PIP-4048MS inverter

Thanks Northland. If it had a DC volts and amps rating. I would not gamble my Lifepo4 battery pack on them. Anyhow let us know how your testing goes.

I am using a mini-PC (stuck to the wall with velcro) to monitor and control my PIP4048. Also logging using the AICC Solar Monitor Free Software which logs all data including BMV702 which automatically uploads logging every five minutes to PVoutput.org. All done in the kitchen. I use Microsoft remote...

a trick to reduce this hold current is to put a resistor in series with the coil shorted by a set of normally closed contacts. Good idea. Problem is that my contactors only have one normally open contact. I could use a small relay in conjunction with the contactor. But just how much current will I ...

Can anyone provide an example of a recommended fire response from a battery manufacturer (or battery-based equipment manufacturer) for Lithium Iron Phosphate? The only example I have seen is in the ENGINER PHEV 48Vdc Lifepo4 Battery pack for PHEV cars. The whole kit including Lifepo4 batteries are ...

[quote="weber"] Lopezjm2001, you have an unusually high bypass current of 2.25 A because of your 3 parallel strings. I would expect this bleeding current to decrease as the battery packs balances. But the BMS master current would usually be less than 0.1 A. According to my centralised mini-BMS manu...

It depends on your maximum charge current setting, parameter 02. If that's 120, for example, then the limit will be 4 A, since max(4, 1) = 4. Just checked and mine was set to 60 amps. I have now changed it to 120 amps. See how we go later on today. It's a bit cloudy today so it may not happen. Than...

As part of the LiFePO4 patch, we also set the current limit lower: to the maximum of one amp and the maximum charge current setting divided by 30. So that makes it harder to exit bulk/float and enter float Thanks for your detailed answer. I am using the Lifepo4 patch and I assume from your quote ab...

NRMA recommends diesel or hybrid

Long term exposure to diesel exhaust fumes has been found to be carcinogenic i.e. lung cancer, so I guess that leaves us with hybrid.

By the way, when you update to the patched version, all your settings should stay the same, except for the low voltage cut-out, which will jump up by 4 volts. So if you had it set to 48.0 V, it will become 52.0 V. You might want to lower this to 51.5 V or 51.0 V to avoid nuisance cut-outs due to th...

Prius G3 + Orion BMS / Ewert Energy HEM ?

Hi Stan,

I guess the price is reasonable for what it does. Why they would not list the price on their website is strange since they list a price for everything else.

Thanks,

Prius G3 + Orion BMS / Ewert Energy HEM ?

Just wondering whether anyone has any experience with doing this kind of work, or can point me in the right direction? Adrian Welcome to the forum. Like you I started with a failed Enginer Kit. Prius G3 + Orion BMS / Ewert Energy HEM ?

I used the Plug-in Supply mounting method for the 76 cells but used an Orion BMS and HEM system. I presently have this car for sale. The HEM lets me drive in EV mode up to at least 100Km/h and I achieve less than 1 litre/100Kms. The car uses some petrol, even in EV mode in order to keep the engine ...

lopezjm2001, I note that you would get slightly more total energy if you had west and east strings on separate MPPTs, and even this would be about 15% less than if you had both strings facing north (assuming 25 degree roof slopes at latitudes around those of Brisbane or Perth). But as you say, now ...

That was a good detailed reply Weber. I expect that using two strings in parallel, one string facing east and one facing west will become more common to shift the solar power to morning and afternoon peak periods using the same MPPT input for both strings. Thus reducing power going to grid at mid da...
