Launch of the Tas branch

Thanks for the wrapup 4Springs! I put up a lot of them on twitter - I won't repost them all here, but you can see them using this link: https://twitter.com/search?f=images&vertical=default&q=%23aevatas&src=typd (you don't need a twitter account to view them) Unfortunately the angle of the sun at tha...

MY15 Nissan Leaf updates

That's possible, maybe I have too :) I thought, while there were minor changes each year or two, it was next years 30kWh model which was being discussed as the first major revision of the model?

MY15 Nissan Leaf updates

Just saw this comment on the TMC forum: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/50556-Companion-EV-for-a-Model-S-Nissan-Leaf-maybe?p=1084899&viewfull=1#post1084899 They have no intention of bringing in Gen 3 approx 250kms range until all old stock is sold. Cant say I blame them for their appro...

Is Tesla's Model S the beginning of the end for oi

I think nuclear is the only option for something that huge - some of the US Aircraft Carriers are nuclear powered.

Hmm! Try https://www.facebook.com/pages/Australian-Electric-Vehicle-Association/98740467186 jonescg (assume you are a page admin) - you can go to https://www.facebook.com/username to rename the page to something shorter - I notice https://www.facebook.com/AEVA isn't actively being used. [Update: App...

That's great timing... I was having a look through to see what other branches had done! I couldn't find any groups/pages for any other branches (just the national AEVA page) so I wasn't sure if it was because the national body didn't approve of it, or if none of them had decided to do it :) I also l...

It's a bit peculiar isn't it. According to Matt Brogan on twitter, their accommodation didn't have any charging facilities, but "RACT were able to help out with a 240V connection". So they didn't leave it charging at 240V overnight? And apparently they tried charging at MONA (tweets seemed to imply ...

Update - ABC News article - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-24/electric-car-tour-of-tasmania-unplugged-for-want-of-power/6569482 "We actually got all the way down here from Devonport yesterday on a single charge, which is something that was just unheard of even three or four years ago," he said. ...

The National Council is happy with "Tasmania", the Tasmanian members are happy with "Tasmania" - this thread is on the second page - is arguing about this the best use of our time?

Now, let's say that Melbourne1 starts up an AEVA branch and calls itself the Vic. branch. This is the core of the issue. I wasn't at the meeting, but as I understand it, there were a number of northern/Launceston people in attendance. It wasn't that Hobart people called themselves the Tas branch - ...

I've only been an AEVA member for a short time, but I have a lifetime of experience of living in Tasmania. For a group this size there is no other option. I see that no other state has grown to the point where there is more than one branch within the state. Given the smaller population in Tassie I d...

Pretty much what 4Springs says - there are a few exceptions, but generally organisations in Tasmania are named as such, and not the individual city. Speaking for myself as a Launceston-born Hobart resident, I try to be as inclusive as possible :)

EVs in the news in Tassie

A couple of recent stories I've found: http://reneweconomy.com.au/2015/tasmania-looks-to-evs-as-next-step-to-100-renewable-energy-32899 http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2015/tasmania-turns-green-51566 Both of these appear to have been prompted by the Tasmanian Energy Strategy: http://www.stategrowth....

Hello from a new user!

Hi everyone, I'm a new forum member from Hobart, Tasmania. Although have had a lengthy, although very casual, interest in EVs, I've never been much of a car nut at all! Back when the Prius first came out I was dead set on getting one! Of course the cost at the time was a bit much, the other issue wa...
