i-MiEV 2010 Keyless battery dead

reecho wrote: No just replace the battery. It will work fine...

Cool, thanks. I'm really surprised the physical key alone works, as it implies there is no immobilizer which I thought was standard on all cars in the past 10yrs or so?

i-MiEV 2010 Keyless battery dead

I've recently noticed that the "key" icon on the dash flashes for a while before detecting my key, however today it failed completely. I fortunately had read somewhere that you can remove the ignition switch cover and insert the physical key once the key is removed from the key fob. PHEW the car is ...

Recalls 2016

I guess the reason I suspect a change is that we've consistently seen 105 - 109 since the service Our range has gone back to the normal 97 or so. I think the replacement of the charger or something else they did during the recalls reset the BMU stats, which have now updated, meaning the RR is more ...

Outlander Servicing Advice

All tried to rip me off blind except Booths in Gosford. A family owned and run company I believe. I will take a trip up there Make sure you have that in writing. I was offered a discount on the capped price service at Pennant Hills Mitsu for the PHEV over the phone ($295 instead of $350), however w...

Recalls 2016

I don't see how you could tell - temperature variations in the mornings can affect my range estimate more than a few km I guess the reason I suspect a change is that we've consistently seen 105 - 109 since the service, and never seen that in the previous 2 years so including 2 summers. As I said, t...

TODO : 20MI020127 On board charger (ordered part) Mitsu did the final recall today, and low and behold, our Satnav is now working again (see another thread where they gave us every excuse). I'm guessing disconnecting the 12V battery might have been the solution however I don't know if they actually...

Recalls 2016

It took them 3 & 1/2 weeks to fix them all. I hope you weren't without the car for that period? Our iMiEV is heading in tomorrow, they said it was just an exploratory stage (whole day!!!) and would need to go back if any issues were identified. Our local dealership is hopeless however it would be P...

100,000 PHEV Outlanders sold world wide

Hackers dream perhaps I'm not worried. 1. The hacker has to be within wifi range of you while you are actually using the Mitsu App. 2. They can only disable the alarm and run the heater, they still need to physically break into the PHEV as they can't remotely unlock it. 3. They can't drive the PHEV...

Updated charge station POI for nav. Dec 2015 data

maybe there's already someone amongst us who's sufficiently can-savvy to be able to design/build an equivalent from scratch? I think its even simpler than that, it looks like this device just turns on and off the data feed(s) to trick the MMCS into thinking it is stationary. The hardest part would ...

Updated charge station POI for nav. Dec 2015 data

It worked! Has anyone figured out how to disable the annoying startup screen and go straight to the map without pressing OK? No, however this device gets around the annoyance of the MMCS locking up while you are driving so passengers can't program the destination etc. I gather its about $100 (seems...

Probably more about incentives though, like congestion charge exemptions in London. Yep, the 3 biggest countries for PHEV sales are Japan, Netherlands and UK. The latter 2 have BIG incentives which make the PHEV cheaper than ICE for some consumers. Intrigued there have been 2000 sales in Oz, last I...

Chademo charger for the Outlander?

After owning them for a while, what is the verdict? Does the concept stack up? After 1 year and 15,500 km I can say for our family it is fantastic and perfectly suited to our needs (replaced a Honda CRV). I'm just back from a 2200km trip taking 4 mountain bikes and 2 waveski's on the PHEV so a Priu...

rego discount for EVs? Not sure about Vic, however the list is very clear in NSW and includes PHEV and EV vehicles. Unfortunately the exact amount of the discount is not shown, when I asked it was tiny ($20-$50 pa). - http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/registration/fees/#Non-lowertaxedandlowertaxedveh...

Fuel efficient tip for driving the Outlander

Save or use and recharge is an intersting conundrum. For those who have concluded that using Charge is more economical than Save, how have you determined that the battery is at the same level at the end of the trip as it was at the start? To make a fair comparison I would think more than the batter...

Fuel efficient tip for driving the Outlander

1GR8KA wrote: how many watts that would be ie 1kw per hour used for 10 seconds ?

Correct, it only amounts to much if it involves a long distance. You can see the power draw of the e-motors while hypermiling using my EvBatMon App.

Fuel efficient tip for driving the Outlander

The paddles are your gateway to greater range. Especially B0, coasting. Yes, coasting (also referred to in some forums as "Hypermiling") is fantastic, however did you know the PHEV uses about 1kW of power to stop the e-motors from slowing the car down. Tesla uses a different motor design to prevent...
