G'day
This looks like a fantastic vehicle. At $200,000 I can understand that sales would be slow. Does anyone know if it was/is actually available to the public? Any news appreciated, ta.

The Zone, Bendigo, VIC (Kiddie karts only) I'd been looking for an opportunity to take my five year old son to a go kart track to see if I can get him interested in one of my passions: cars and motorsport. The opportunity arose last Saturday when we visited The Zone in Bendigo, bought him a ride on ...

I don't really know anything about the technical stuff, but I inderstand that the first year uses identical equipment, then they go open slather in the following years. I suppose this is to avoid putting fans off from technical teething problems spoiling good, close racing. I suspect there are alrea...

Australian made batteries for EV
Great minds.... My current dream (read crazy plan) is to win the lotto and start building EVs using bodies/chassis from Australian suppliers (Nota Sports Cars, Tri Pod Cars, Deuce Customs/Lewis Chassis Works/Rod Tech, Old Tin, etc.). The bodies and chassis are all there, somebody just needs to plonk...

Thanks for the discussion, fellas. My schooling was not in the area of science/physics/etc (I'm an accountant by trade) so it'll take me a while to understand what you're saying here. Kurt, you're right. One of my passions is keeping jobs in Australia. That's why my posts will often have an Australi...

I'm sorry, I don't know what c rating means.
No job = no money for EV, hence my interest in Australian made.

Thanks for the replies.
The Suncycle site was interesting. They appear to be marketed as solar system batteries. Does that mean they would be unsuitable for EVs?
I checked the Century site again and you're right, they also sell imported batteries.

Would I be right in thinking that there are no Australian made batteries other than Century?

Is the idea of using a hub motor as the electric motor on a sprint kart impractical? I suppose the casing would be wrong for bolting on to a bracket on a kart frame?

I just checked the Go Kart Club of Victoria's website for membership ($380 1st year, then $265 p.a. after that) and licencing ($310 1st year, then $290 p.a. after that). It'd be $690 before I even saw a track. I race in a monthly hire kart league in Melbourne for 10 rounds per year and it'll cost me...

Thanks for your enthusiasm Pottz. The only off the shelf options I'm aware of are geared toward hire kart venues and seem quite expensive. The only "kits" I'm aware of are Ausemoto's <$4,000 kit and EV Power's $2,770 kit (this price may assume assembly by the buyer). I've only read about these two o...

Electric Karts
Formula E in NZ is a hire kart venue. The frame of a sprint kart is designed to flex, providing some lift of the inside rear wheel to assist cornering. That is my understanding, anyway. This design is also probably to keep kart racing more simple by avoiding the complexity of suspension. It is an en...

G'day I thought I'd start a thread on all things related to hire kart racing at venues that use electric karts. The venues I'm aware of include: Power Kart Racing, Griffiths, ACT Extreme Indoor Go Karting, Warners Bay, NSW C1 Speed, Albion Park, NSW Game Over GC, Helensvale, QLD Please add any other...

Has anyone been to this venue? They run an electric fleet of karts - OTL Electrokarts. It's the only one I know of Australia. There's an indoor track in Auckland, New Zealand that uses the same karts. I'm keen to try it out.

Thanks Wayne.
Are electric karts actually allowed by the AKA to race in sprint kart competitions?
Could electric karts do away with the need for fireproof race suit, gloves and boots? Now wouldn't that make karting more accessible!

Love it!
How much of the electric components are/could be Australian made? I'm aware of at least one Australian made kart chassis so I'm keen to know how much of the electric components could be supplied by Australian manufacturers.

G'day everyone. I'm here because I'm an Australian made groupie and a car enthusiast (used to be a petrol head but that might have to change). I'm in mourning over the impending demise of the Aussie car industry and so I'm looking for alternatives. It seems to me that it's a lot easier to set up a f...
