Black imiev Morley Mitsubishi Make an offer

I must admit to being very tempted to get an iMiEV for around $25,000 even though I think they look ugly and really want a Leaf or Renault Zoe instead. Considering how much a DIY conversion equivalent to the iMiEV would cost to build it makes a lot of sense with a factory warranty and the fact that ...

Pikes Peak Hill Climb results

gypP-hkTB_A Unfortunately can't find much race footage yet. Really looks like EV racing is taking off now with an electric motorcycle faster than all the ICE bikes at Pikes Peak! :-) Tajima setting a sub 10:00min time in his car. Shame the other EV's had to race on a wet track. Then there was the I...

How much to charge lithium packs

I wouldnt of thought battery longevity was an issue with phones with people upgrading every time a new model comes out!? :-) I remember reading the my Nissan Leaf forums and some of the guys over there were only charging to 80% all the time and yet they were discharging the battery down to only one ...

Replacing a dead cell

Definitely worth replacing that battery. 11.5V after a run around the block is pretty bad. What sort of charger does the ute use? If you can adjust the Voltage you could just bypass the bad battery.
Don't think you will find any cheaper price than that. My 55AH Optima's cost $330 each.

When I looked into getting one It was closer to $60,000 driveaway by the time you got a home charger installed as well.

Really hope the dealers see sense and give us the choice of purchasing the base model Leaf. Image

Faster than a speeding car

Well for me a high powered ebike is more versatile than an electric motorbike. With an ebike you can cruise the bike paths and pedal as hard or as little as you want. Then you can go offroad on trails that motorbikes are not allowed on. Though you could get away with riding an electric motorbike in ...

EV Segment on the ABC's Checkout program

Big hills like greenmount yes you will quickly fill the battery and have to waste the rest. The only thing you can do in a hybrid like the Prius for this is to try and arrive at the top of the hill with a low SOC. I did go up to the zigzag in my Prius once late at night and manage to do 11km without...

EV Segment on the ABC's Checkout program

Driving my Prius efficiently I will rarely get any stars on the display indicating 50Wh regen. The most I have ever seen is 150Wh on a single trip. I know Justin who makes the Cycleanalyst has tested regen on Ebikes and it was something like 1-3% increase in range. *edit* hmm tried to find a link fo...

Controlling the 12v aux battery

I had the same problem in my conversion with a 12AH aux battery and running the DC/DC convertor only when the car was on. The battery would be 12.3V after a couple of weeks and need a charge. This was with about 13.7V set on the DC/DC, after adjusting it to 14.4V I have no problems with the aux batt...

StudentEV's Daihatsu Conversion

Not a bad idea, it will work OK as long as the battery has enough AH to cope with all the 12V loads.

Something to consider is without a dc-dc converter lights will be dimmer, windscreen wipers slower etc.

acmotor you could argue that the iMiev is not trying to look different at all seeing as it is based on the I! http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif I think the iMiev looks ugly too but it is growing on me.. Yes I did think about that. I guess it's one of those decisions that will have to be made. Spend more now or later? Out of curiosity, how did your conversion go on the 55ah pack? What kind of range were you getting when they were new and for how long? Also, what was your top speed and average speed...

I understand that you are on an extreme budget, Forkenswift inspired me to consider doing a budget conversion too. It's got me confused. The graph shows 0-100kph takes 35seconds. Elsewhere it states it has the second best acceleration!?
The stopping distance can't be believed either unless they mean 60kph.

The price is good though at $28000.
