The Battery Vehicle Society has a magazine for its members by the looks of it.
The Electric Boat Association also has a print magazine.
Another magazine to check out is EcoCar . The current issue has an artical about the iMiev.

Simons E-max
Probably... it already has a boost button that increases the power for a couple of minutes. First thing to do is ride it stock for a bit and decide on a cheap bms solution. Then maybe do what antiscab did and increase the voltage to 60v. But I don't really want to risk blowing the controller up or s...

So the battery capacity may be just acceptable for a small motor (and 8 kW is quite small).
I dont know what you are saying with this?
Do you mean the range might be acceptable?

Yes the photos look like a Left hand drive model. Also the photos show a manual gear knob when the specifications show it has auto transmission. $25,000 sounds like pretty good value to me... if they pass ADR's. After all they would have no competition at the moment. 120AH batteries dont seem way to...

Con: - Not generally repairable at an individual cell level. - Hot 250-300degC operation requires energy to keep it hot so suits high usage (not an EV you use twice a week). - Heatup time from cold is some 24 hours - So its warmup time is even worse than a steam engine or *gasp* an ICE? http:...

Alloy DC Motor
Although it might cost a bit more (not that they are that cheap now by the time you get them to Aust so what is a bit more) you would save in freight costs which would offset some of the cost. But are there any large aluminium frame DC motors available? The smaller DC motors like the E-Tek have alu...

Thats disappointing! I would of thought that caravan parks would be willing to let an EV plug into a spare 15A for a price.
Good luck.

The EMIS - engine motor interface system could be a neat solution to controlling a hybrid.
I found a thread somewhere the other day about a hybrid fiero using a s10 electric drivetrain powering the front wheels and ice driving the rear wheels. It had 2 accelerator pedals.

There are a couple of books
Convert It and Build your own Electric Vehicle
Both good books but they deal with car conversions.
A motorbike book is Secrets of El Ninja
As antiscab said the V is for Voltage forums are a good place to look at scooters.

Would you be able to recharge at work? If not the lead acid batteries wont last long. 30km would be a deep discharge.
Here is a link to my bike if your interested.

Take some test rides on a few if you can and see how they perform on the hills.

Scooter Conversion
Hi Cajun To convert a scooter I think is not as easy as a motorcycle. One option is to run a electric motor through the CVT or instead you can replace the ICE/CVT swingarm assembly with a custom swingarm and then use a hub motor. Which is what the commercial EV scooters use. Here are some road regis...

Wow! Yes thats cheap.
I wonder how it can work though with the 2001-2003 model Prius because they have a higher battery voltage? Not many details about how it interfaces with the car computer either.

Hi all, just registered and first post. This is an interesting thread. I've just bought a Gen1 Prius. Haven't got it yet as I need to ship it to Vic from Brisbane. The battery has gone flat so it was cheap. 2.5k with only 80k on the clock. Hi Dave Sounds like you got a good deal on the Prius! When ...

You can get "Danger Hazardous Voltage" stickers/signs. Or how about these? Risk of Electric Shock Good price too. Or is "risk of electric shock" not enough of a warning? I asked at a local sign shop recently when I picked up some corflute sheeting and it was quite expensive to get custom stickers ma...

Good news. I mentioned to a couple of people at the last AEVA Perth meeting that some of my Optima D34's were failing. It turns out that a couple of the Paktrakr sensor wires were loose giving some false battery voltage readings. Did a test drive today after crimping the offending Paktrakr wires. Co...

Yes the aerocivic is a perfect example of what aeromods can do!! Another interesting source to look at for aeromods is Human powered vehicles. Why standard GEARBOX for EV's
In my opinion engineering is all about compromise. Keeping the gearbox is clearly the simplest option with a Front Wheel Drive car. But with Rear Wheel Drive it becomes much simpler to go direct drive.
