Nice car Ian!
Looking at your website I was surprised how much weight you lost on the rear axle! 133kg seems like a lot for fuel tank, exhaust and spare wheel?

It depends what you are intending to use it for. It would be ok for an EV boat. Like EClubman says no mention of BMS though..

Renault Zoe

It comes with a very powerful charger (43 kW); I'm guessing that they use the motor controller as a charger. Flexible too - single phase input or three phase with various AC current limits. Yes that was the first thing I thought of. It would be the only way to have such a compact, powerful charger ...

Chevy Volt Meets High Resistance, GM Suspends Sale

IVI I don't think it is really possible for the Volt to suffer the same fate as the EV1 because you can actually own the Volt. It's way too early in the piece to think that this would effect Holden Volt sales considering it will not come out till late this year. On the subject, what were they trying...

BetterPlace's business model is based on range anxiety.. Don't forget the Volt, it's also based on range anxiety! http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif I cannot see big powerful electric commodore's being the future niche of Holden. If a small hatchback EV costs $50,000AUD what is a big, he...

Did some more digging today and found this article. http://www.insideline.com/tesla/roadster/ousted-tesla-founder-blogs-about-waste-in-energy-on-the-roadster.html It seems the coolant pump used to run constantly when parked with SOC above 50%. But it looks like this got fixed. http://www.teslamotors...

BigMouse would you really expect to park your EV with a full charge, go on a 1 week holiday and return to find your EV with a 50% state of charge? Or much worse do a deep discharge, plugin and because of a charger problem return to a dead car a week later? Here is a quote straight from the manual. "...

Hi bladecar.
It was meant to be a joke comparing the Better Place Fluence to a mobile phone that is locked to one network with a costly monthly subscription.

Making EVs commercially in AU: If not NOW, When?

I think the BP battery swapping is not going to work out cheaper than a fixed battery. The swapping stations are very expensive and require multiples of batteries on hand and fast chargers to top up the depleted packs. Also there is no choice of vehicle either choose a Renault Fluence.. or a Renault...

Making EVs commercially in AU: If not NOW, When?

I must admit, even though I have put a heap of sweat tears and even some blood (nearly got it in the headlining) into my EV build I have closet thoughts that I shouldn't. I really can't see anyone reasonably parting with AU$50,000 to drive a modest car that will have almost zero resale value in 6 y...
