Compliance for pre-ADR cars

Hi, I'm an old car nut. The car I am considering converting is a 1963 Ford Cortina, which we already own. The only reference for GVM for this car is here: (1100Kg) http://www.cortina-mk1classifieds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155&highlight=Gross+Vehicle+Mass This doesn't add up for me as the car itse...

Hey Hoops,

has your Zeva micro got a spare analogue output ? You NEED to output the jetsons noise (RPM matching) from the above post so people can plug it into their stereos...

so, is anyone willing to go on TV?

I was listening to the radio the other day and there are 5 "Green" senators as of 1st July. Maybe we could offer them a shameless publicity stunt like dropping them at the first day of the new session of parliament in EVs? Any EVs in canberra?

cheers,

What about an EV hybrid?

Heh, just looked up BMW's regenerative brake - details: They disconnect the alternator when accelerating - reconnect it when the battery is going to go flat or when "regenerative braking". I hope they have a big alternator :-) You could adapt this technology to your ICE or EV. ICE: stick a relay on ...

Regenerative braking

And if you are putting a diff in the front, you don't have to hang the motor off the back, you could put the motor on the front or on the top to give you easier access/better cooling/ better weight distribution / better aesthetics :-)

Gaza Guy Article

I talked to 2 people tonight about my new interest in EVs and they both mention a recent article about a Gaza Guy who converted his Peugot 205 to AC. (sorry it's not direct drive acmotor :-) Google News to the rescue: Forced to go green in Gaza - International Middle East Media Centre Tankless task ...

What about an EV hybrid?

According to wikipedia (I know, I know) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_power_transmission#Losses Transmission and distribution losses in the USA were estimated at 7.2% in 1995 [2], and in the UK at 7.4% in 1998. [3] Not too bad I think. They jack the voltage up to 110 kV which means the curre...

60s Model Mini Minor

Floating around in my head is the idea of a moke with direct drive x 4 wheels - i.e. twini mini style. This kit: http://www.everything-ev.com/citroen-2cv-conversion-parts-kit-choice-of-systems-p-384.html is for a citroen 2cv may be direct drive (2 motors) - so may be a way to go for a mini. Even if ...

Sydney Lurkers

Hi Mal / Matt,

I'm in Mt Colah (2 suburbs up from Hornsby) but am currently working in North Sydney and Frenchs Forest and love visiting EVers at lunchtime and on the way home from work :-)

Hi folks, newbie here.

Early Subaru Libertys were available with front wheel drive, they only went all AWD mid-nineties.

Sydney Lurkers

Hi All,

I'm another Sydney lurker. I've been interested for a few years, but only found out recently there was an Australian EV scene. Went to the Sydney June meeting and met Keiron and Malcolm and others (and joined up).

cheers,
Woody
