Ive come across qsmotors on a few forums and had a look on their site.
I was under the impression QS motors were hub motors - more aimed at scooters.
The prices are on aliexpress.

Re: AC 3 phase motor fee spinning

Well induction motor wouldn't have any of those problems.
Permanent magnet would produce a back EMF (AC volts) but if its disconnected would be the same as a power point with nothing plugged into it.
The power is only generated once it is connected to something.

Re: To import or to build? New to EV's

Sure that'll do it. So the process would be: 1. Decide IF you want to convert or go for a production vehicle 2. If you're converting pick out the type of donor vehicle. 3. Pick out the motor to match the performance you want for the vehicle. 4. Select a controller to run that motor. 5. Select batter...

Re: To import or to build? New to EV's

I'm not a speedster and much prefer the style of a cafe racer or cruiser to sports bikes I just want to observe that power/performance of ev's is never an issue if we don't define what we mean by that. Well in this case Mikey did sort of indicate the motorbike he was after. A 250cc are in the range...

You could always look through what other people have done

They will have a list of they main parts they used to convert a motorcycle.

Just occasionally, I observe a "pushbike" motoring by, with a battery container on it and I think, "that thing seems to almost have the abilities of an electric motorcycle.
Mmmm I've seen those top end electric bicycles.

Re: To import or to build? New to EV's

petrol bikes don't tend to have much room for batteries, which limits you somewhat I don't think that the hub motors are that great at the moment. So the real issue is trying to fit the batteries AND the motor in the frame. A few weeks back I was looking at the Nighthawk cafe racer 250. They still ...

I'm definitely not vouching for it or its quality.
No I understand - its there for consideration as an option not as a specific "buy this" one.
Realistically I think it is probably the easiest option.

Re: Upgrading 24V mobility scooter from PB to LiFePO4 batts

Something like this maybe https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F323696643887 So they are 18650's... It's title is 24V but the description is 10S5P. 10S would be 36V. Each cell in every battery goes through a strict testing process for capacity, voltage,...

Regenerative braking could be a game changer on this route. Maintenance costs were really taxing, so going electric seems like it could really change the economics.
So AC it is.

Do you have any typical Specs on your vehicle (kW)?

I think 100 km of range seems appropriate.
So if you have access to Leaf cells you'd need 40 as a bare minimum.
That's be 20S2P (152 volts) which could be a bit high for some controllers.

If speed is not your thing on these tours then you could go 3P.
15S3P (114 Volts+).

Or 10S4P (76 Volts+).

would it be possible to just buy some smaller lead batteries?
Yep most SLA can do about 3C.
So for 70A /3C => 23Ah

That'd be ~8kg per battery.

So ~16kg and $210.

The down side is you'd be lucky to get 10Ah at 3C - more like 7.5Ah.
But 3C would be the worst case.

Re: Upgrading 24V mobility scooter from PB to LiFePO4 batts

30A/10Ah=3C continuous and 70A/10Ah is 7C peak. Using 18650's will be quite a bit of work assembling a pack so I'd probably not recommend it. Not to mention the voltages don't mach your SLA setup. A Samsung 18650 "High output" is rated for about 8C. 1.44kg for 8S4P=32 cells $300 LiFePO4 are 3.2V ea ...

Re: Solar day parking with AC charging

Work places with solar are still unlikely to cover their energy needs - even if the carpark was added. So having free solar for customers/employees at the employers expense is unlikely to happen. If it concerns you then get as much solar as you can on your house and store the surplus - preferably 10...
