Siemens motors and rotary engined donors

I got my series 5 rx7 roller for 1200 with no motor or box but I have seen earlier ones (series 12&3) for around 5-800. They tend to be rusty around the rear hatch and roof area though but are substantially lighter. 1000kg vs 1324kg. I suspect a reduction drive using toothed belts would be the light...

Raising the subject of range extending trailers

The rear of the car makes up 33percent of the drag due to air. the wheel wells 21.4 under body 14.3 front 11.9 I will be doing wheel covers, closing the front and putting underbody panels in so I hope to get it substantially lower one day. The drag co-efficient for the 924 is .31 and I estimated the...

DC-DC converters experience

Oh no I got the same one, I will let you know how it goes in my case, I am going to give it a LiFePO4 battery in series for help though as I wasn't sure 500W is really enough all the time which might be why it blew maybe?, were there lots of accessories on at the time?

fiberglass body for lightweight racecar rx7 style

I have a full body mold for making a fiberglass or composite body shell for a series 5 rx7 which could be used on a similar sized body, It is possible to do it in one piece and was made for a drag car. I had only wanted to do the bonnet but while I am at it could get a full shell done too. It would ...

Torquay EV Fire

A friend, Peter Pedals from the rainbow power company here in Nimbin had his whole house destroyed while he was at the neighboring property helping repair their solar panel setup, he had nothing left. The culprit was his LiFePO4 battery charging on his electric bicycle in his shed which set off the ...

Possible sled..?

I had considered one pretty seriously in my searching, the weight put me off a bit for the size and I didn't like how it felt sitting in it but the clincher was rust problems and power steering troubles so I let it slide, the room for batteries is good though for a small car.

Raising the subject of range extending trailers

I just scored a permanent magnet generator from a wind turbine for my porsche 924 wreck range extending sleeper trailer project which is a lot lighter than a normal gen-set. It is 180V at 4000rpm. I think a small gas turbine aircraft alternator would be ideal or a fuel cell. ATM I go with what I can...
