2012 eV Challenge Perth Teams

Hi Everyone, Met a few people at the Perth electrikhana and wanted to know if any teams other than the River Raiders have active blogs, Facebook pages or tumblr feeds to follow. My construction of this years entry can be found at; http://www.facebook.com/pages/Coulomb-Racing-Technologies/22614840077...

Thankyou for the Electrikhana

On behalf of Peter and I, I would like to thank everyone involved in today's electrikhana; the organisers, car owners and also the RAC driving centre. It was great seeing everyone out there and getting to drive the ev conversions. Great turn out and thanks also to the River Raiders who shared their ...

Grass roots electric racing class

Could I please just put on record that I 100% support an electrathon style race, with a budget ceiling of $8000 and a maximum battery capacity of 2.4 kWh. This would bond well with my personal ideas of eV racing expansion in Perth into an endurance series with battery pack swapping and longer races....

Australian Grass Root EV Racing

There is obviously a group of us interested in this new formula of racing so why don't set a date and have a "committee" meeting/debate to discuss our own individual ideas and thrash out a proposal for the future of EV motorsport in Perth?? I'd be happy to host a meeting, I'm south of the river near...

@ Clay: Could you please PM me your contact details/phone number?
I have been working on something which I believe you may be very interested in. Confidential though so I would prefer to talk over the phone rather than the internet.

Regards,

James

Hi Crash, Energy Density of Lead Acid Batteries is around 30 Wh/kg maximum whereas Lithium Ion has an energy density of 125 Wh/kg. Back to answering your question: 30 kg * 30 Wh = 900 Wh, therefore you more than twice the energy storage. This would give us up to 130 kph if designed well, also making...

Yeah that is very true, I have spoken to Patrick Louden about expanding the eV Challenge but it is as you say above. A spending cap could be reinforced, it would just require closer scrutineering and abit more documentation. A battery weight is a good idea however. I used the following equation: 432...

Thanks Crash for bringing this subject up, I have been meaning to have this conversation with you for awhile. You are part of the River Raiders Team if I am not mistaken. I have done all the calculations and the eV challenge with good specs, wheels and low co-efficient of drag, with current energy b...

Looking good guys, there is also an eV Challenge at Bathurst. Maybe with more battery power we could try get over there with the cars on a trailer and show off there. No rules really it's pretty open. Back to the eV Challenge however... Looks good Wayne. We shall be watching closely, good to have ab...

Hi Johny, Thanks a lot! We are trying to get more followers to our blog and Pete, younger but a little bit more tech savvy than me, is writing his own website for us. We have no plan for a private EV conversion at the moment as I am in first year uni and we don't have the funds. However we are worki...
