RC plane LiPo 14V/4AH for AU$6.95

Benonymous, In principle yes, but condsider this... In this particular ebay sale, this is the starting price only and may well go for $24+ (market price) although the seller has been carefull not to state the C discharge rate. So they are probably as low as 8C and definitely not the 20-25C that RC p...

Mal, I tried a hall effect p.u. on one project and found that the response time (rise) of the HE was too slow at higher revs. I changed to an inductive p.u. with O/C output and that worked fine into the Danfoss 24V pulse input. This gave an RPM signal but no direction of course. You could try mounti...

What a beaut affordable roadster EV from China!

Interesting E6. Some of it adds up. Why state Ah and not kWh of battery in specs ? 2100kg curb, 2500GW front and rear motors (with front motor size option) RPM max of 7000 with 6.8:1 drive and say .36mradius tyres gives 140kmph OK. (not 185 but who cares) At this weight with a Cd of say .4 it would ...

In defence of our government. Some EVs are not safe to drive on our roads. ADRs are there for our protection (read our ADRs, I for one agree with them and maybe they do not go far enough in some cases). Whilst we have no small EV category in Oz lic. there is a problem. People would buy a vehicle tha...

I run an AC induction motor with an add on encoder feedback. www.evalbum.com/1149 if you dont know it. I can operate with or without the encoder, both work. It is largely up to the brains in the VSD. Don't confuse the encoder with the commutaion pickup of a brushless DC motor. The encoder helps with...

Fantastic, you are doing a good job getting EV parts to be in stock in Perth.
I'll take one of the vac pumps as soon as you can get them.

Re: heater.. I'll look into that. Any suggestion on wattage ?

Ian, Thanks for posting that. Can I ask zeva to research / offer two items... 1) 12V vacuum pump (with tank) and auto switching for power brakes. 2) 12V or 120/240 V water heater (with circulating pump) 500 to 1000W for vehicle heater de-mister. If 120/240V then would need a solid state temperature ...

Lowndsy, Generally I agree with your falcon vs van ideas. Can I throw in the most important factor though. Which vehicle do you wish to be driving around in ? and you should also consider... Which vehicle is the safest ? Just because it is an EV, we should not forget these factors. I am not deciding...

Simon, The inverter (as many are) has a modified sine wave or PWM square wave output. This works with most equipment other than that which requires pure sine wave. A power meter assumes pure sine wave to make it's measurements. It should also allow for leading or lagging power factors etc, but not a...

Juk, Granted, there are plenty of PM motors in small applications. I don't include the vibrator in my phone as high tech. I was talking EV traction motors. I don't see any magnets in a 200kW wind turbine either. I did note that magnets may become more important if Brushless DC motors dominate. In th...

Personally, I don't think the writing is on the wall for any particular battery technology to dominate in the future. Invest at your own peril. Magnets ? The current best technology motors don't use them. (even the old DC series motors don't use them) But they may become more important if Brushless ...

That used to be the system in NSW 20 years ago as I remember. But now, in WA at least, the modern smart meter has a clock and calendar in it. (note it does NOT adjust for the daylight saving joke that we put up with) Your whole house can use off peak electricity by using power after 9pm and before 7...

Acpropulsions don't return my emails (they did last year). Has anyone heard from them lately ? I nearly bought an AC-150 last year until the problem of diff ratio came up. There was no way I was going the waste $25k on sending it through a standard gearbox just to match the revs and drive around in ...

ngamoko, Mostly agree. Even if you feel left out on the technical front, you are streets ahead in your faith in EVs. Bravo. Hybrid is dirty electric but allows fuel companies to sell you half as much fuel for twice the price and the government retain their revenue. I undersatand. It is not a technic...

Mal. I'm told it is not all good advise ! In fact ......... ! Toe in. I would always use some toe in as a vehicle tracks better as the play in bearings and suspension / linkages is held against one side (picture it). Conversely, neutral or toe out is bad. Re bus bars... do consider using copper sheet in three layers bent in the middle rather than solid as this places less strain on the battery terminals. A bit like stranded cable.

Rod,
Is it worth starting a new topic with this point ?
Maybe something like "EV compliance and safety proposals" and get EVers to say what they think should be included. I know I would put my two bits worth in !! Balls in your court.
