Toyota to go the Hydrogen route

Don't worry, mass adoption of hydrogen fuelled transport will not happen. If for no other reason then because our minister said so ... “We’ll look at how we can assist the industry get off its feet, " Don't you hate it when people's command of English is so poor when they are iin such a position of ...

Toyota to go the Hydrogen route

Here we go again http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley19.gif The Hyundai ix35 is and ELECTRIC VEHICLE whose battery pack (energy storage module) just happens to be a hydrogen fuel cell. Why are they so dead scared to state the fact it is an EV first and foremost ? Hydrogen.... great, we can sell ...

Nope. No apparent change in range. Actually, why should there be ? Perhaps in a car park turning but not in general driving. I run 40psi to try and get ever wear across tyres. See earlier posts. (Started at 38psi) RR is never a good way to judge energy consumption. Use canion or measure recharge kWh...

Outlander PHEV-should I get one?

Looking at the bridged wheel spin behaviour in the vids, the two electric motors ( one front axle, one rear) gave the effect like a centre diff lock, good control there. The wheel spin across axle showed no mechanical diff locks ( maybe some LSD, couldn't say) but then the traction control stepped i...

Yes, very controlled vids. But in fact negotiating obstacles slowly is a real test of 4WD, particularly traction. Most people throw the vehicle at situations and use inertia.... The old keep it rolling principal. Never stop at the critical point. The Outlander is not an off-road 4WD looking at these...

155/60 R15 continental ecocontact3 vs 145/65 R15 Dunlop 2030
Yes, the 60 and 65 are profile numbers. The 150 and 145 are widths.
Rolling diameter almost identical. Same rim size specified.
Result for iMiEV ... brilliant !

New tyres are 155 as opposed to 145 though almost identical in rolling diameter due to profile change. Check back through this thread.
In theory, 6.9% wider. In practice, a world apart in stability !

iMiEV tyre wear status

Maybe the case and makes sense and perhaps the profile plays a big part, but the situation with the iMiEV in crosswinds is one of tracking stability rather than cornering. This stability significantly improved with the 155 vs 145 tyres as others who have made the change also found. Mind you, it may ...

I'm still very happy with the continentals on the front due to the massive improvement in crosswind stability over the dunlops. There must be other LRR tyres out there however when you are on a good thing... Maybe a three groove tyre is more stable than a four groove as a steering tyre ? I had expec...

They were electric busses whose 'battery' was a hydrogen fuel cell. Shame it wasn't stated correctly in the trial. Many folk thought they were ICEs running on hydrogen ... shame they didn't rip the fuel cells out and fit lithiums at the end of the trial. IIRC, gov spent $16M on the four busses. Grea...

I think we need to consider the almighty dollar when trying to extrapolate EV usage into the future. I am considering here the future, not just our immediately perceived charging wishes. We can all imagine and dream but the reality may be.... EV Charging, in those countries where there is more publi...

Agreed, nice thought experiment. I dream of such infrastructure. One Fly in the ointment though is what if someone else has plugged in just before you ? That changes the trip time. What if the FC is faulty .... Seems that is a regular. The power side of things probably ok but the swipe card system i...

Reecho, I find the iMiEV draws a constant current set by J1772 so yes, around 13A makes sense as the top current. I think I and others measure 13.75A ? But that had me wondering with your 2950W measurement... 13.75A at 240V is   3300W, the max rated iMiEV charge You measured 2950W so the gen was sup...

Mmmm, thinking open frame noisy genset of 54kg charging EV at only 2.2kW. Quite capable with 7HP motor but not the best choice ? Did you per chance test the earth-neutral for connection on this gen set ? some have it connected and the add suggests some models have RCD built in. I note the Oz standar...
