iMiev passed all 83 safety tests

Thanks tdean, i've just done the same. I'm going to start pestering my friends & relatives to either ring up, call in or login to Mitsubishi. If Mitsubishi get flooded with interest they might just pull thier fingers out & get the cars into Aus sooner. I just had a thought, the political organizatio...

I hadn't read anything about lease only, might have to go back & read more closely. Theres not a chance in hell they are gonna get a single cent out of me for a leased car. (see my angry face!)

EVme $70K

interesting, i was just about to say that it'll hurt the Blade EV conversions too but i just checked their website & conversions are now down to $30k for retro fit or $40k for car & fit. i bet that'll come down further when the Miev & other brands hit the market.

EVme $70K

At $70k they are going to be pushing it to be competetive with the Mitsubishi Miev which has been estimated to cost $30k in Aus next year.

i-MiEV at the Melbourne Motor Show...

I hadn't heard of the Subaru Stella EV, so i just did a google search on em. Another ugly boxy, non airo-dynamic snot box EV! What is it with car designers???? Why do they seem to think that EV's need to be so damn ugly? Has anyone told them that EV's need to be more airo-dynamic than the average ICE?

Motor efficiency Vs Amps used

Therefore you're better off running the motor at higher voltage and rpm, getting the same kilowatts out as you would at lower rpm and more current (but wasting more power as heat and running the motor hotter) so is this where AC systems get their 5 -10% greater effency due to their higher operating...

Of course you can't stick a wind turbine up in your backyard, 'cos that wouldn't look nice and would drive house prices down. And that'd be a tragedy. Must keep the "desperate housewives" look! Actually theres quite a range of domestic wind turbines that i don't feel are ugly at all. There's a smal...

1 of the issues i see with EV's is the added pressure on the countries power grid. All you have to do is look at the massive strain that gets put on the national grid whenever theres a heatwave, this summer was a classic example. Now imagine for a moment if 1 of the major car makers released an EV i...

The 70k price tag is a little suprising considering the 36k tag on the getz conversions. Not exactly competitive price wise.

Well as with all things DIY, theres a right way & a wrong way to do things. I would imagine the trailer genset has only a fairly small fuel container for starters & secondly it wouldn't be hard to put in some sort of re-enforced fuel tank to make it safer all round. Anyone have an idea on the legali...
