Elec car discussion at Fed Sq 22-7-09
I've just been listening to Richard Canny (Think)and Ross Blade (BEV) discussing electric cars on ABC 774 melbourne radio, was a good discussion but all to short as per usual. Richard is giving a talk at Fed Square in Melb on Wednesday, I also noticed that Shai Aggasi (Project Better Place) is also ...

I just sold an '04 Prius after nearly four years of ownership and I really enjoyed the experience. P.S. Before anyone asks, I didn't keep the car and mod it because it was my company vehicle and I swap them every 3 to 4 years. What did you replace the Prius with, a newer one? or did you buy a full ...

Aussie road test of Tesla
In todays Herald Sun (Cars Guide)there is a road test of Simon (Hackets?) Tesla.
I guess it is in papers in other states not just Victoria.
Nice 2 page spread, (well 1 page if you took out the adds) and
a full size cover photo.

That looks like a tough one, usually small tears etc can be repaired with a plastic welding gun and some vinyl weld rod but a big gash like that is a lot harder. Have you asked at car yards who they get to do there repairs? The only way I can think of is to cut back the vinyl and trim out the lumpy ...

That is the same company (GP Batteries) that built an elec Porsche 356 replica back in the 90's (wonder what happened to it.
I was at a car show or swap meet about 5 years ago and a bloke had an elec formula something for sale (about $4000) without batteries, may be the same one.

This topic seems to be splitting in two! I think the Subaru transfer box is part of the gearbox and they are used in all 4wd manual models from the 70's uptill now (I think) Suzuki lj80- Sierra had a seperate hi/lo transfer box (as do most older 4wd's) but I'm not sure the ratios would be suitable f...

I was reading an article in Wheels (Dec 08)car magazine about Project Better Place and I think it may end up that we, the consumers will have to pay the 'going' price for electricity to PBP, a bit like we do to the OPEC countries now for dino juice, so maybe things wont improve on the 'paying Mr Big...

The Zebra batteries as used in the solar taxi use molten salt technology. I'm not clever enough to know how they work (and how you get them upto 250-300°c for them to work) but they seemed to work quite well in the ST here's a link to the technical guff for them http://donau.kicms.de/cebi/easyCMS/Fi...

There was / is a company in Melbourne doing plug in conversions
for Priui (I think I have a clipping from the paper about them)
he was quoting about $15000 for the conversion though.
This might be a link to them

Signed. Just hope it helps Kevin 747 go the right direction. The Vic state Gov. was looking at a Net FIT of 60 cents per Kwh to start Jan 09 (?) but rumours are that that idea has been scrapped and they hope to bring in a scheme later this year whereby the REC's will be worth 5 times what they are n...

Wow Richo, lots of calculations there, do you have one that works
out at what speed the dreaded 'speed wobbles' come in at and
throw you off. These scooters dont feel like they want to go to fast, unless you about 10 years old.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Why wouldn't we reply Lachlan, I for one am envious.
I had the same prob with the link as Johny but got there in the end.
Looks like a good conversion.
What sort of perfomance / range are you expecting?
When do you think it will be on the road?
Keep us posted on your progress.
Good luck.
