Wanted VW 1800 adapter

Thankyou Richo, unicap are not too far away from here and I have had a reply from Bill Croft that sounds positive, although he seems to be in favour of a no clutch link up. As my wife will be driving the kombi as well I think the familiarity of a clutch would be desirable and as the plan to use the ...

Wanted VW 1800 adapter

I'm now chasing parts to start my kombi conversion using the WEG132 motor. I'm looking for an adapter plate to suit the 1800 bellhousing that retains the flywheel and clutch.
Any leads on where I can find one of these will be greatly appreciated

What have I done????

Well, I've returned from my dash to Brisbane to pick the Beast up and met up with Weber, had a quick viewing over the MX5, even more impressive in real life, there is barely room for air to move between the bits but it's like the body moulded itself around the parts that were fitted rather than the ...

What have I done????

After reading the last post about a doz times, I think I actually understand what you just said  Basically, the Beast will limit the max torque to around 150Nm because it's upper limit is 273amps, so, can the controller maintain that peak breakdown torque through the range to 5,800rpm or would ...

BTW. My daily driver eVogue currently only develops 160NM. Direct drive into a 4.22:1 diff and 185/65R13 wheels. It needs more starting torque (< 20km.h) but is quite drivable. With Star connection and the Beast you'll get around 183NM from the motor. Around 100kW. With a gearbox you'll still be ab...

I had another look at the specs 7 circles posted http://www.rmsindustrial.com.au/image/data/wegw22/9r24pfoot.pdf and according to page 4 the torque curve seems to peak at around 75% of max speed and by 80% it's going into free fall. If 5,800rpm is around 75% max speed that would mean the motor shoul...

Now you have thrown me completely. I thought the whole reason for wiring in star rather than delta was to improve the bottom end and start up torque at a give voltage but the trade off was top end rpm. If the torque is not improved, what advantage would there be to wiring the WEG in star rather than...

What have I done????

The hesitation I have with swapping over the controllers is that Tritium has set up the controller to suit the EVO motor complete with a tricky little board to correct the position sensor (?), if I mess with that and connect it up to the WEG, will I be able to get the beast to drive the EVO motor pr...

The "Beast" requires a min of 425vdc to play the game. Apparently there are parameters that can be set to allow a voltage drop as far as 330vdc, but it needs that 425vdc to reset once the system has been shut down either manually or because the voltage sag dropped lower than 330vdc. With only 125 ce...

I couldn't do that to splittie, that would be sacrilege, it's a '74 bay, so still the classic kombi so the gut wrenching decision to modify a classic is still there, but the combination of a true classic hippie machine and the green appeal of an EV won out. The 48v rewind is an AC motor, combined wi...

Upgrade to Lithiums?

The charger I am using used to get the old SLA pack of 96v nominal up to 124 volts max. I am unsure what the new BMS will allow the charger to charge up to. At present the BMS stops the charger at about 113v but that is, I think, because four cells commence shunting when they reach 3.65vpc and quic...

As far as recharging and pack balancing, 140 cells would either require a complex active BMS or a complex charging system and a passive monitoring system, I plan o go the passive system, possibly a nightmare of it's own, but it's a path I've trodden for quite some time with great success, but I'll e...

90kW @ 4200rpm sounds good to me, but being air cooled rather than coolant cooled, how long could it maintain that sort of output? the inverter, I know it's huge but that wouldn't be so much of an issue as I'm looking at converting my VW Kombi, one too many eng failures.
