First "for the people" electric car: Think's Electric Car Is Here, But Bring Your Wallet Norway's Think has finally started to ship its "economy" car. When the cost of the battery is added, however, the price balloons into the $40,000 range. Think has begun to sell its first car, the City, which can...

Regret of the Day – The heads of GM, Ford and Chrysler flew from Detroit to Washington yesterday to front House and Senate committees in an attempt to get $25bn from the Government’s $700bn TARP bailout. There are 24 daily commercial flights on the route from Detroit to Washington. They all flew in ...

Stationary diesels are turbocharged to make them smaller and more efficient.
Every mine you go past will be able to give you any power you may require. We've only got about 30-40 gensets at work, i think 90% are turbocharged.

How to feed an original tachometer?
Just use a speedo with a different scale. Or even just put a smaller scale inside the speedo perimeter scale. Since the two are a fixed ratio in most EVs you'll be cooking with gas.

A123 batteries in a Razor scooter
I've actually done this and i let all the magic smoke out. It's really hard to put the magic smoke back in. Mine was a rothmotors.com scooter, not a razor. "Normally the motor controller has preset current limits which would prevent any performance increase " Mine didn't have any overcurrent protect...

Hello and "Yeah, go the 205 GTi conversion!"
I'm going to go ahead and pretend you didn't mention Daihatsu Mira, suziki swift or heaven forbid a Daewoo as an alternative to a Peugeot 205 GTi. The whole car had a kerb weight of 880 kg, and the pommie model with lower emmission control and lacking the power steering weighed less than 800kg. I've...

Hello and "Yeah, go the 205 GTi conversion!"
Yeah Go the 205 GTi conversion. The 205 GTi runs the same gearbox as the 405 Mi16 and is well known to be a very tough gearbox. One bloke in WA put a Mi16 engine in a 205 and did a little extra work to the engine, the trouble he had was not with the strength of the gearbox, but with the drive shafts...

I have the kit to convert your own bike. I've got a cannondale lightweight mountain bike, and it's featherweight. Then i put the kit on. The front hub weights probably about 10kg, and the battery about 2kg. Looking at the pictures he's got i'm dragging around about 8kg of copper. But not only is it ...

A bit gutless is an understatement. Poor control is another flaw, you have to toggle from full power through half power through regen. It really needs a throttle. It also cuts out over 35kph, which makes it near useless for me. And you have to be an olympic weight lifter in order to lift the bike. S...

There's been a lot of discussion lately about iPhone 3G reception issues. Whether they exist or not is largely irrelevant in a world dominated by sound-bite driven perceptions. Nevertheless, some industrious Swedes decided to apply a little scientific method to the argument and found something inter...

199W conversion for no rego
In my experience 200W is worthless. I tend to average about 30km/h on a MTB all day everyday. I've got a 200W gearless hub motor on the bike for assistance in the work commute so i didn't need a shower upon arrival. However with a 25 knot headwind (46kph), the 200W hub motor and what ever i put out ...

Springs have a tendency to sag with age, so you'll probably find that your car is sitting a couple of centimetres lowers than originally intended. Especially toyota springs, which means especially daihatsu springs too. If you're going to put an extra 100kg in the car then you will further lower the ...

"With other controllers a sudden pack cutoff can occur if you simply accelerate too hard!" My scooter did that, it made it virtually unusable. recharging standards and other questions
The telsa recharging station is 220-240V 50-60Hz and up to 70 amps. There is a selector where you can select 16, 24 32, 40...70 amps. Obviously it has to be installed by a sparkie, and has to have special wiring, but that's quite an output. I really don't see the need to go above 240V just yet. the ...
