Voltron, the Electric RG!

I read you came 3rd (glass half full etc), great job, did you have any problems during the races ? Any planned mods for the next round ?

About the fiber glass work - I have plenty to do on my conversion - and I hate working with it (the itch factor) that's why no one wants the job.

DC - DC converter 80 - 140 Volts 8 - 10 amps

Seems I'm out of luck then (so far) as my pack is 132 Volts max and as low as 72 volts min (thow it will never get there as the BMS will set of warnings at 90 volts. I tried ordering the sugested item from evparts only to get an email saying they are out of stock and did I want to wait ? They won't ...

DC - DC converter 80 - 140 Volts 8 - 10 amps

Can anyone help me to find a DC - DC converter with a voltage range of 80 - 140 and about 8 - 10 amps in a small package ? I am a computer programmer and not an electrical engineer so if a mod to an existing power supplt is recomended can you incluse detailed instructions on how to do it please. An ...

yep its expesive enough when everything goes right ! I will have to check my soldering iron befor I use it on my BMS. One question on your build - is it going to be water proof ? I have spent plenty of time on my design to make it water proof but its not so easy. And congrats on a working project. I...

Great pickup. performance is impresive. Is that typical from a warp 9 ?
Or is the controller adding some extra performance ?

What is the alternator for ? If you use it to charge a 12 V battery then wouldn't the mechanical losses be greater than a DC-DC converter ?

Keep the main pack with its pack isolation, and tap your 12v system off before the isolation switch, so even if you need to shut down the main pack you still have 12v available. Edit: Maybe throw in some isolation on the 12v system to be ultra safe. The power to the dc-dc converter is always on. Th...

You will see in section 2.12.1 that a separate 12V battery is mandatory. 2.12.1 Auxiliary ELV An independent auxiliary ELV (nominally 12V) must be used to guarantee the supply of power to safety equipment such as lights, brake boosters and windscreen wipers in the event of a shutdown of the main ba...

The ADR's apply to the mechanical structure and safety of the vehicle but the electric conversion side should conform to the requirements in Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 (NCOP 14). The current updated version was released only about a month ago. You will see in section 2.12.1 that a separate 12V b...

The bike project is coming on well, lots of very neat looking aluminium welds there, something I'm still trying to master. Looking forward to the next instalment. T1 Terry The really good looking welds were done by a pro. The rough looking ones are mine ! I am getting better though. I got frustrate...

I should mention - I have aluminium foil over a piece of 3 ply and down the sides so the fiber glass wont stick. Handy tip to try and remember for when I get to body work. I use gaffer tape and a coat of silicon spray, easier to work with, the fibreglass bit just pops off, hopefully http://forums.a...

Looks like your project is coming along nicely there. I can't see where you fit the 12V battery to run the auxiliary low voltage circuits? I assume you have a hidden battery compartment for this which can't be seen in the photos? I don't have one - scroll up and you will see the power supply I made...

Its been a few weeks since I last posted so here is what I've been working on. The Tank was too small for the storage area I wanted so I filled in some of the cutout with body filler before taking a mold of it. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_UxGAw06t3tA/TVfFq6FC6MI/AAAAAAAAANc/zU4B0yERM3k/s800/P...

EV2Go nothing wrong with your process, before building you should have everything sorted out this way. personaly I like the pivot point down lower like in the first flipped version and I would get rid of the top link then all joints could be rose joints. EV2Go in your latest drawing (fliping it over) looks much better. Is the bottom green bars pivot mounted on rubber ? http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/350/UniversalWatt.jpg Are the two mounting tabs in the middle geared together or something?
