My TZR 250 EV project

Well, its been a while since I last made an entry. I have purchased the BMS from EVworks ( www.evworks.com.au ) along with an Expert Pro gauge, cableing, cable lugs, terminal grease, fuse, emergency disconect switch (big red button) and SE batteries. I got an Elcon charger from the Chinese manufactu...

Batter Charges for 36 cells

Just to complete the discusion - I have bought an Elcon charger - thet set the charge curve at the factory to your requirements. They also said that the LiFePO4 chargers only come with the one charge curve. Its the lead acid that have the multiple charge curves to choose from.

I'd watch out with using clamps to hold the torque arm to the swing arm. With the amount of torque the motor can generate, I'd imagine it will be able to start slamming that arm against those bolts only a couple of runs after you've fitted it. Would it be a better idea to bolt the torque arm direct...

Going on the links in "coulomb" post you get the charging curve set at the factory when you place your order. This charger would be set for somthing else or a standard set of curves.

Coulumb

the Elcon looks pretty good. Its still a bit big (but its the smallest I seen so far). How much voltage should a cell of 3.6 V max be charged at ?

Batter Charges for 36 cells

I am looking for a battery charger for 36 SE100AHA LiFePo4 cells. Apparently this is an odball voltage 36 X 3.2 = 115.2V or 36 X 3.6 = 129.6V.
EV works recons that 38 cells is 120V, 36 is a bit less.
I want it to be compact as its for a motorbike (TZR250) also under $1000.
Can anyone help ?

vh202 I commute 60 km daily and sometimes visit other companies during the day. I aslo divert to the AEVA meetings on my way home. My goal was 120 km range at freeway speed. LiFePO4 mounted on there sides

I'll be repowering my vectrix in a month or so with SE40 cells on their sides. I'll keep you posted I had a test ride on a Vectrix when they first came into Australia. I thought is was fantastic but the range was to short, the top speed to slow and the price to high. If it could go 10 Kph faster, h...

Pressure Sensor on hydrolic brake line

Does anymone know where I can get a pressure sensor for the hydrolic brake line (on a motor bike) as I want to use it for regen braking on the back brake ? It needs to be 0 - 5V output with preferably 5V input. I'm not quite sure of the pressure range as I want it to work at a very low pressure and ...

I have seen a number of conversions with, what seems like Thunder Sky, LiFePO4 batteries mounted on there sides. This seems to atract comments that you shouldn't do it. But the owners say it works OK. Does anyone know officialy what the case is with Sky Energey LiFePO4 Batteries ? If it does "hurt" ...

Mark thats what I trying for - a real electric bike - one that you can do normal things on. None of this 60km range stuff (current crop of electric scooters being sold). If I have to resort to moving the batteries to back paniers then it not going to look sporty ilke the one above, but it will be pr...

Thanks to those of you who answered my question above. Havn't done much lately. My Controller, small DC-DC converter and throttle have arrived. They arrived last week. Can someone tell me if you must use the original 12V battery to run the electrics (blinkers, lights etc) and charge this with a DC-DC converter ?
Or
Can you used the DC-DC converter to run these items directly ?

And should the output be 12V or 13.5V ?

I was thinking of mounting it on the aluminium battery box I am going to build. A flat plate (on its side) about 450mm X 450mm. That should help to disipate some heat. But the water cooled base sounds like a great idea if I can't find the room to mount it on the battery box. Love this forum - you ge...

I'm also interested in your Wh/mi (or km) calculations. Mark gets about 130 watts/mile at 60 - 65 MPH. He thinks about 150 watts/mile at 80 MPH. But with an airodynamic fairing this can be reduced (alot according to others). I plan on working hard at the airodynamics. Would love to get 115 watts/mi...

Here is the hub motor with torque arm and intergrated disk brake assembly (and a tyre fitted). The tyre looked to be lower profile when I bought it but on the rim it looks huge. I may have to get another one (dam). http://lh5.ggpht.com/_UxGAw06t3tA/S6X4_wKQrFI/AAAAAAAAAD0/B4WmdlNJ1L8/s720/Photo024.j...
