EV Commodore planned - all electric

Lets just see a well built DIY commodore on decent LiFePO4 batts. I'm sure it would impress everyone. That's why I want to do a Commodore Cross8/6 UTE Conversion. My friends manual Monaro had its clutch die recently and will cost a couple of tonnes to get fixed. As the interior is falling apart he w...

I have been considering a crewman.

If the Berlina is the size of car you need to get a round in then convert it.

There's no point in having a EV if it sits in the Drive way because its too small.

Sincerely

Are you allowing for access to the motor for Maintenance. Or Are you happy having to pull the whole suspension system apart to change the Brushes or pull the motor out. Go through the assembly and un-assembly process your self. Just to make sure your happy with it. 7C PS Sent you a PM with 'i' added.

Kevin had a big PM motor and we showed the guys from swinburne what happens last previous Sunday.

It's hard t get to the chain sproket to spin it.

I think there is another person in Vic with one of these motors too.
So we cold ask them to try this too.

Cheers

I think they have stuffed up the Name Plate details on the Motors. Swinburnes and Josi's have the same written details. Josi - What is your serial Number of the Motor? Oh - Josi Can I post up our email converation information. We are going to also check if the motor by unsuspected bizaar chance is P...

I just got an email on from some one else having similar issues with the same motor and controller setup but they run a 20 Cell Lead pack at 288Vdc (V max 14.4V/cell) so that's only 240Vdc at 12V per battery block.

The Swinburne guys are back from their cvacations so testing was on the agenda. We borrowed a toshiba 18KVA industrial inverter with step-down transformers on the output to the motor. They are about 240V/30V ratio and about 1kVA in size. Will need to confirm what tappings where used. We had checked ...

So were will the main springs go? I'd try and bring it in nice a close to the motor but remember to make sure you can get to at least the brushes easily for maintenance. The Virus message turned out to be a warning message about the date of the file. We were luck to have a 3.5" Floppy Disk with a set of files. When a CDROM is burnt it can loose its original creation date. The program was checking this date. It was too smart for its on good. These are old systems. Th...

This wouldn't spin the front end.

With some spring return like you suggested it could give you tilting.
The axis of rotation may need to be off horizontal though.

Most of the strength in the torque tube is between the diff housing and the output end of the motor mointing plate. The rest of the structure is just to support it. I'm unsure of your drawing. Why not use trailing arms to locate the wheel axle. If they are hinged near the front(terminal box end) of the motor the the vibration in the motor will be dramatically reduced. And bonus, this is the end with the brushes. As these motors already have big issues with internal structure when trying ...
