Wanted: short busbar standoffs

I did think about cutting it in half, but I would then need to find a way of fixing it to the polycarbonate floor such that it wouldn't twist out of its thread. I will work on the threaded stud idea and see how far I get. The box came up pretty nice I reckon. All up the pack will weigh a shade over ...

Wanted: short busbar standoffs

Thanks Bryce, Yes even 25 mm is too tall. It's not impossible, but the natural lay of the cable is to sit lower. Besides, most of the 25 mm high ones seem to stop at M5. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/1240/Switchyard_001.jpg http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/1240/Switchyard_005.jpg Essentially th...

Is exactly what I need, however these are 35 mm tall. I need one which is 15 mm tall. Any chance I can find or at worst, make something like this to suit my battery box?

I drive a Honda. Does that make me awesome? Yeah, yes it does http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley4.gif On Dennis Leary - I always think of the Simpsons when Marge became a cop. She was identifying crimes everywhere, and in resignation sees Homer parked across three handicapped spaces. He gets o...

Controlling the 12v aux battery

The Vicor Maxi modules always seemed like a good, quality option. I'm not sure why I haven't heard of many people trying them. One downside I guess is the need for external heatsinking/cooling. We're finding the Vicors get pretty hot regardless of their duties. Just having them plugged into the Haz...

Currentways chargers up to 900 V!

I just heard back from Currentways / LHV Power (seems like they just recently merged or changed names). Hello Chris, Thank you for keeping in touch. Caleb is no longer with CurrentWays/LHV Power and I’ll gladly provide you information. Good to hear that you are making progress on your race bike desi...

Currentways chargers up to 900 V!

I've been in touch with Caleb Bolen by email, and he was keen to do a direct sale. No mention of prices, but I gather a 10 kg, 6.6 kW charger wouldn't be cheap. Probably $4k at a guess? I'm awaiting a response from him in regards to the 900 V from a single charger thing. Not that a pair of chargers ...

Currentways chargers up to 900 V!

Currentways chargers are releasing a high voltage version of their liquid cooled chargers. Currently they are capable of up to 450 V, and you would run two of them in series for higher voltage systems. That sounds like trouble, especially if you want to be able to adjust the output of the DC side; ...

jonescg's eCRX build thread

I have been putting some thought into the charging options for the CRX when it happens. I *might* be able to access a large order of EIG cells, so I have been getting a board to terminate them made up in anticipation! Now, since I have to split the battery up into low voltage units anyway, and I nee...

You seemed busy explaining the inner details of EVs to someone for a while there?

Call for Submissions

It would be such a huge administrative burden to register bikes, it just wouldn't be worth it. Rego plates are simply there so they can snap a photo of you when you do 63 in a 60 zone. If the maximum speed on a shared path is 30 km/h and the speed on the road is the posted limit, why make it harder?...

I'm in. I don't live in NSW (home of the state catch-cry: Welcome to NSW, Fines Apply) but over here in WA we are seeing more folks riding e-bikes with modest power levels getting more attention from the local constabulary then they deserve.

I'll happily make a submission for you!

Cheers,
Chris

get me out of a tesla model s

I'd be really surprised if the battery pack didn't have multiple points of isolation inside it. Which would indicate that the DCDC would be completely unpowered should a crash cause an inertia sensor to open all contacts. Probably a 'worst case scenario' drill. If the people inside were in a bad way...

You keep using that word. I do not think it means, what you think it means http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley4.gif I've often thought the most 'sustainable' thing you can do in WA is leave. There was a reason the population remained at about 6000 for 45,000 years. Since that ain't gonna happen...
