PIP-4048MS inverter

Using the protocol that Coulomb and I reverse-engineered yesterday, we can still only raise the inverter cut-off voltage, on-the-fly, to 48 volts. This is one way in which this inverter (and pretty much every other inverter on the planet) fails to cater for LiFePO4 batteries. So we will also need t...

Seeking donor assessment assistance

If you go with an auto car, keep the torque converter etc, get a motor controller with an idle function, and use it to keep the original power steering pump and air conditioning compressor on the motor shaft - you'll reduce range a little, but make for a simpler and cheaper conversion! Most of us us...

FS 2004 Kia Rio Hatchback motorway cruiser

Well the time has come for my first converted car to move to it's next home. This is a fully working, road-registered car, that I used to drive to work and back over the Gateway bridge; handles 110kph+ easily. However the battery pack is very tired and needs replacing; also needs new 12V battery. - ...

Electric Vehicle DRAFT standards released

I think this might be something that the AEVA should purchase for its members - what do you guys think?

Will it have any effect on the existing NCOP 14 design standards?

Electric Air-conditioning capacity?

Yes, for some I will use the reverse cycle solenoid valve to enable heating; this may require changing an orifice valve to 2-way valves etc as well.

For some vehicles I won't bother with heating for Queensland weather.

September Meeting

The venue is actually only 5km from the CBD, so I'd say that's pretty central. And with the Clem 7 tunnel it's very accessible from the south side - which I do every meeting. If you're 40km out that's half way to Gold Coast, and so anything to "Central Brisbane" is going to be a trip. We do have oth...

I assume your tap and bolts that you intend to use are metic course thread, which means for M10 they will have a thread pitch of 1.5mm. I always use a drill bit equal to the size of the bolt diameter less the size of the thread pitch (to the nearest 0.1mm), which I believe is standard. Thus for metr...
