Re: Zoe - annoyances and solutions

you can clear the warning each time you start the car by pressing the buttons on the end of the stalk. Similar to what you do to reset the service counter

Re: Registration of approved conversion

In WA, book it in at an inspection station of your choice. Bring your engineering certificate. The inspection place just checks that everything works. They enter into the dot system that the vehicle passed(or failed). You go to licensing centre and get plates. Make sure to go to a weigh bridge first...

Re: My experiences with the Zoe

there's a fellow in Germany who regularly does road trips down the autobahn at 140kmh continuous, then fast charges. He's only had heat issues whilst actually driving (and then only recently)

pf on the zivans arent great. Not sure theyre as bad as 0.6 though they might be. I'm not a fan of them, so never bought one. I've heard good things about the thunder struck 2.5kw charger : https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=12&products_id=317&osCsid=7an63cfoc5945nf2vrf3hhkfh7 The...

Re: Battery interconnect sizing

when I last dealt with a big headway build, I bought a sheet of 1mm thick copper (1200 x 2400) and had it water cut to size and hole spacing, then tin plated at a radiator place. Cost like $2k from memory to buy cut and tin the whole sheet. Unfortunately I had it so the cells were touching each othe...

Re: Converted Ford Focus - WA (needs windscreen and battery)

The hairball interfaces things like main Pre charge contactor control, throttle and a few other things to the zilla.

Motorcontrollers now all have it in the same box

Re: Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

Zeva bms checks for earth leak. There are others too. it does provide a warning and it would probably disconnect the contactor if a leak is detected but the precharge resistor would still complete the circuit. So it really depends how they write the rules. It's generally good practice to have more ...

Re: Charging e-mail From Renault Australia

Basically either the zoe charger is fit for purpose and can reliably charge across it's design range (6A single phase to 32A 3 phase), or it's not. In my experience mine is. If the car isn't reliably charging, there's a problem with the car. (I nearly always charge at single phase 15A, and then rare...

Re: vectrix scooter being sold for spare parts

it depends largely on what sort of batteries it has, and if everything works. In my opinion. Rolling bike is worth $1000. If charge works add $500. If motor controller works add $500. If original Nimh battery working add $300. If lithium 40Ah with minimum 30Ah capacity add $2000. If minimum 25Ah cap...

Re: My experiences with the Zoe

That the rcd trips after the car starts drawing power throws me, as I would expect the earth and power on tests to have concluded by this stage. I do have a theory, though. The zoe is not galv isolated battery to ac, uses the motor windings as an inductor and the mc to form a charger. Mains voltage ...

Re: My experiences with the Zoe

Come to think of it, I see a 30% range of efficiency from the EVs I have owned in the past for the same speed, just from changes in temperature, air pressure and wind direction. On an unrelated note. I tripped an rcd for the first time with our Zoe. We're house sitting, and the zoe would trip the rc...

6 x 6.6kw Tc chargers would get you there.

AU $1,148.98 each

Alternatively, if your system voltage is 700v or so, I would use a vfd to charge on 3phase.

I wonder if the battery may have been faulty. Our Zoe didn't struggle to get past 200km on our trip, though not sure how much of the esperance run is up hill

Overseas BCI failures have had battery replacements

Sadly not. I'm presently borrowing my uncles one, while I ponder whether I can be bothered putting a vectrix one back in my Vectrix

I do know of another 72v Tc 1500w charger if you'd like to try that out again Dan?

to be fair Tesla were trying to shift in under a second, probably well under a second.

If trying to do it in 5 seconds or so, it probably wouldn't be as bad

Re: Non-Syncromesh Gearboxes

System efficiency you would have to measure for

My old mazda2 would draw fewer battery amps at low rpm, I suspect due to lower losses in the gearbox

500kg of ncm cells would be 100kwh.

100kw of Regen even continuous isn't too bad for 100kwh of ncm. What size battery did you have in mind?
