Stuart's Work in progress

I have done a little more on the front section of the car. Am now starting to add into the model some of the other components as the body work is giving me a headache. I think after the first prototype I will have to get an industrial designer to tidy things up as it seems to be beyone me at present...

I thought it was about time to start putting some rims on the model so have started this evening to work on the layout. Hope to have it finished by tomorrow. Will post some of the models in here. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/77/Rev2.0-Simplification-17.png http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/77/R...

I am now working with some construction lines to take some of the sharp edges off the car. Putting an initial chamfer on the wheel guards as the starting point and hopefull the current construction lines will yield an interesting body shape. Hopefull post a few more images as I get a handle on the s...

Sorry Canberra was not ever aware the offer was on the table as your last post just mentioned that you were looking to purchase a CNC.

I may well need someone to assist but not sure of the practicality as you are not in QLD correct?

I have been working in the surface modelling of the cannopy to give more head room and I can finally say I am now happy and will now continue with the final stages of the surface modelling. The model has come a long way and is now constructed from simpler profiles that should make the process of for...

A little more work on the cannopy section still very crude but I think it is looking a bit better and will give me a little more headroom that was needed. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/77/Rev2.0-Simplification-7.png http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/77/Rev2.0-Simplification-8.png http://forums.a...

Stuart's Work in progress

Its been ages since I have posted any pics here. Must say modelling the body work has been a great frustration to me but part of the learing curve. Have not been happy with all the elements of the body detail so I have been reworking it a little to make it easier for me to fabricate the buck with li...

AEVA race?

As much as it kills me to say this WA are the most proactive and progressive when it comes to Battery Electric racing formats. I had to fly my car over to WA back in 2007 when we won the EVChallange how crazy is that. A national format electrathon is long overdue for a so called smart country like A...

Wayne, Thanks for the post. Unfortunately I will miss the race this year but rest assured I will be there next year as I wanted to make sure there were no compromises on the car. I will be posting some more images of progress just been tied down with some design considerations. I am really impressed...

Richo, You are correct the picture shows 12 batteries which will only be for charging purposes however I will be racing with a pack of 11 cells which means I need to make some mods to my BMS system. It will mean I am slightly under rated but that is the best I can do given the LiFePO4 battery chemis...

Here is the first model of the steering wheel, adaptor bracket and shaft. Would like to incorporate a qu...

Richo are you referring to the battery pack?? The battery pack I have meets both the weight and Watt Hour requirements for the EV Challenge.

I have modelled the steering wheel which is ready for manufacture and will be moving onto the steering assembly and couplings.

Here is a pic of the steering wheel.

Just received my brushless DC motor today which is very exciting. Will need to do extensive testing before I commit this motor to the latest revision of the car. All I am waiting on now is my BMS module and charger which are on their way. Working a few tasks in parallel now. 1. Battery/Motor/BMS/Gea...

Clay I am in favour of an electrathon for a couple of reasons. 1. commonality of rules 2. leveraging similar events like the EV challenge 3. The possibility to foster international competition 4. Is a platfrom to foster new build knowledge sharing There are a lot of retrofits in this site with great...

Johny thanks for that you are correct. 38140, 12AH. The actual manufacturer of the Headway batteries is in Fact TEnergy. When I won the EVchallenge back in 2007 [This is the first time I will be coming back since then] I raced on TEnergy NiMH F Cells. The problem with LiFePO4 by the very nature of t...

As you can see from the model, there are some sections where the longitudinal and later sections meet which can have some panels removed. Also I have found that I will neet to create some horizontal panels to preserve detail which I will post next. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/77/rev2.0.37.6.21...

The internal space frame is being worked on presently with safety in mind. The aero dynamic modelling will ...

Wayne great to hear from you. The driver for me has been to minimise the cost of the buck creation as I dont have access to machinery. The most practical way for me to go about it was 1. 3D model the Buck using longitudinal and lateral sections 2. CNC profile cut the forms you see in the pic. 3. Use...
