Re: I hope it is not true

I had shingles a few years ago. It was a total non-event. Some people suffer, some not.
I declined my free vaccination.

You were lucky....or too tough ?.

Maybe lucky that time, not so lucky with my heart.
My shingles were below the waist, an amusing look with spots down one side. Mild ...

I've never noticed such a setting. SOC was low when I first tried but I've tried again now at %81 SOC.
The main LCD lights when I plug it in but is mostly blank.
All the specs sheets say Ora doesn't do V2X - only Sam Evans says it does. Maybe the research was done on a different model or it used the ...

Re: type2 V2L

I got my $38 ebay V2L a few days ago. It looks good but doesn't work on my Ora.
I tested it with a work light but no-go.
I locked and unlock the car a few time but it didn't help.
The car did seem to know something had been plugged in as it made a noise and lit the dash.
The resister value appears ...

Re: type2 V2L

Ebay lists some for as little as $38
That's about what I paid from Ali Express, perhaps a little more, for the "adapter" type where you supply the cord. But I have plenty extension cords.

I tried charging one EV from the other, but could not get it to work. I think it's the lack of a proper ...

How much $$$
Ebay lists some for as little as $38
Interestingly most adds seem to be for the same model with the same blurb and all say "not for MG4" - no other EVs are mentioned.

Thanx for the replies. All news to me.
It could be as simple as a resister and test pen to see it the car has the inverter.
Sam Evans (electric viking) said the Ora-3 is V2L capable even through Ora makes no mention of it that I've found.
I think he said 11kW but it was some time ago and I could ...

type2 V2L

Searching for CCS2 V2L I'm seeing a lot of adds for V2L showing a type2 connector.
I would not think a standard J1772 style connector would support V2L.
Am I missing something or all they all scams? Is there a bi-directional J1772 variant?

Faulty cell possibly caused by the BMS but more likely the cell itself.

Ta,
Vintage? Odometer?
Have you any found battery monitoring apps that work?
I tried MeowEV without luck - too long ago to remember what went wrong.

Re: Modifying a 15 amp EVSE

Hi Pete and all,
Yes busy, 4:50 am start today.
Yesterday I gave up waiting for the 5V supply to arrive and bought a USB charger from Kmart to gut. They were out of stock of the $9 single USB one I wanted so I bought the $12 dual one.
It powered the system OK but it died when I dissembled it. I have ...

Re: Modifying a 15 amp EVSE

Smoke test failed - no smoke released.
Minor bad news - the 240vAC to 12/5VDC supply I bought isn't powerful enough - 500mA 5V and 100mA 12V (I think). A bigger supply is on order but it is 5V only.
I had hoped I could under-clock the RPI-Zero-W to make it work on the smaller supply but no luck with ...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Are you charging at home? I had a ground fault because my off-grid power didn't have an earth-neutral link. I made a plug into a link and plugged it into a power point - charger worked after that.
There should be no voltage between those circuit (E-N), an AC meter showed I had some.

Re: Modifying a 15 amp EVSE

I have some results for my EVSE hack test.
Some good some not.
The aim is the clip the end off the high part of the 1khz pilot to reduce the duty cycle and control the charging current the EV sucks up.
Yes, I can do this with a 1/7 of uln2003. It just shorts to earth. With a diode added it pulls the ...

I don't have openEVSE but it is not out of the question if my current efforts fail. I have a avoided MQTT so far and I'm likely to find another way to talk to openEVSE. Re: Modifying a 15 amp EVSE

Hi Coulomb,
Do you think it would be acceptable to switch EV charging off by short the 1Khz pilot to ground. It would just look like an unpowered EVSE to the car.
I think the EVSE 1K is 1/4 watt and should handle the short OK.
I'm currently breaking the pilot line with a relay and pulling it the 12V ...

Re: Modifying a 15 amp EVSE

Hi Godoh,
I'm pretty sure I saw coulomb do this at my place using a cheap ebay (edit Ali-express) charger (6-16amp?) . Mine can't. We had changeable solar power conditions and being able to change the current was handy.
I think it was youtuber Julian Ilett showed his car respond instantly to his DIY ...
