Re: 2006 Prius plugin for sale. NSW.
Hi all. Just updating this thread. I have had 3 people contact me regarding the car. Initially I had said that I wanted to wait til I have the new car,but I’ve been thinking it over and it will work better for me if I can sell it sooner, then I can use the funds as deposit on the new car and reduce ...

Somewhere around 65km. I've not pushed it to the limit in ev mode.
But the numbers would seem to point to around 65km.
I'm doing my daily 35km commute and most nights I'm getting home with 45% or more left.

I have now driven around 800 km in forced ev mode. Average is around 18kwh per 100km now. Also done a 350km drive in blended mode. I got better than 2.5L per 100 in blended mode, and consumed around 24kwh for the trip. (170 odd km each way, with a charge each night) Turns out the useable capacity is...

So it's taken a bit longer than anticipated, but the car is now completed.
I have driven about 300 km in ev mode so far, and I'm getting around 16kwh per 100km.
Pics and other info are in the thread linked earlier.
Thanks to all that have contributed helpful info and advice.

GBS cell smell question
Thanks heaps for the advice and reassurance. I aim to have the system up and running this weekend. Weather permitting. I have only a carport to work under, So the rain might play a role in what gets completed this weekend. I am really looking forward to driving the car in EV mode. Thanks again. Jaso...

GBS cell smell question
thanks for the advice.
the car was parked up in 30c sun for a few hours after the cells were first installed.
i think i will go ahead and measure them again, and if they are all in the 3.2v range, i will go ahead and hook them up, keeping a very close eye on them.

I have emailed Rod at EV-Power to ask for his input here.
I sure hope I don't have to return them all.
The cost and time would be not good.

That's what I was afraid of.
These are brand new cells never used.
They have been mounted into the box, but nothing else.

GBS cell smell question
Hello. I need some advice. As some of you might know, I've been converting my car to plug in hybrid for a while. I have the cells now mounted in the car and I'm about ready for the final hook up. But, I have a bad solvent smell in the car. When I go to the garage in the afternoon to head off to work...

Thanks. I did look on eBay, but all I see there are rubber mats, and most of those are for the 3rd gen. I can make a carpet mat without too much trouble. I still have the template that was used to make the polycarbonate cover, So I'll just use that to trim some bunnings grey carpet. That's what I di...

Help with Prius
Glad you got it sorted. I usually fill up not too long after I get 2 bars left. That way I'm in zero danger of running out. I usually get around 820km when there are 2 bars left. Once my conversion is completed (hopefully next weekend) I will be getting more like 1800km (or more) on the same amount ...

Help with Prius
one thing to be aware of, is if the 2nd gen prius runs out of fuel, and is continued to drive on the HV battery, it will cause this kind of behavior. if it's out of petrol, and there are 3 attempt to restart the car, the system shuts off (to protect the HV battery i think). have you tried disconnect...

Yeah, the Prius chat forum has been having trouble lately. Sometime it works and other times it does not.
I'll see what I can do about getting pics here.

Got the box and batteries in over this weekend. With many thanks to Geoff at GT tooling. Still have some work to do in wiring up the pack, but that should hopefully be finished next weekend. Can't upload pics as the forum says they are too big. But I'm very happy with the result. I'll try to upload ...

I'm not entirely sure the Australian spec Prius has the bladder.
I've certainly not noticed any of the issues that they seem to have in the USA.
I think it (the bladder) was a North American requirement for emissions testing.

I was able to get well over 1600km per tank with the inferior enginer system. So should be able to do way better with this system. I always fill up around 2 bars left, and always stop at the first click off too. I've been using an app to track fuel economy and that requires the same fill method each...

Great to know what to expect.
My work commute is 38km round trip and mostly flat.
So the plan is to run in ice kill mode all week.
And use blended mode for longer trips on weekends and holidays.
I'll have a look at the updated info on the blog.
Thanks again,
Jason.

Because I wanted a display of volts and AH and percentage of discharge. Plus I have a feeling that the EV power unit might be just a little better at protecting my expensive battery pack. I know I could have saved some money by not using the unit from Rod, but it was just a personal call. The bigges...

Hi Jason, Sorry about the no reply - I don't understand that - I always reply. The template is a cardboard cutout, there is no file. Eric (EVPLUS) No problems. Don't know why I didn't see any response. I tried a SMS to the phone number on the blog, and a reply to the blog post too. Not a big deal. ...

Hi Jason, If you are using the Plug-in Supply kit, the contactors come with the kit. They use 2 contactors one in the negative line and one in the positive. These are controlled by the PIS Rear Controller box. Also the charger connection uses a contactor. (I used 2 on that as well, to ensure the ch...
