Re: Non-Dealer EV Car Service in Sydney

Thanks. I just looked up NSW and there's only 6 businesses listed there - none of which are auto-service or auto-electricians unfortunately. There is an importer that advertises imported leafs for sale in Five Dock. They claim to service the vehicles. Sydney City Traders 153 Parramatta Road, Five D...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

I tried to reply but the message appears in the outbox as sent with nothing showing in the sent messages. That's normal. When Terry reads your message, it will move from outbox to sent messages. Confusing terminology, outbox should be called something like unread. Thank you for the explanation. You...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

The best use for a Blade is as a glider to build your own EV using quality parts - the hard work has already been done and it is easier to reregister it as a repair than a complete new built conversion as the compliance re the battery boxes, engine mounts etc has already been worked through. Repair...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

There is no such thing as obsolete semiconductors. If anything new better performing parts have become available. Match the voltage and current requirements and adjust the drive current for the new part. I believe such people are called electronics engineers. I know I am dreaming. Still there is no ...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

Thank you for the reply. I find it hard to comprehend why an AZD controller can not be repaired! Why can't an electronics repairer diagnose a faulty component and replace it? The controller still drives the car! It can't be completely burnt out. Looks like EVs are not ready for the general populatio...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

Hi there Chris - that symptom in a Blade is indicative of a failing AZD controller. Mine failed that way. Definitely worth checking the other options .... but my money is on the controller. Simplest fix is installing a Curtis motor and controller (there are options for installing a new controller o...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

So I'm not suggesting that the DC/DC itself was causing a fault but rather that it MIGHT not have the capacity to maintain 12V battery charge with everything running. If you're into it, I'm suggesting checking what the V is at the 12 volt battery with everything electrical running (and occasional p...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

I had no evidence but I wondered at one point if, when using the A/C and lights and wipers while raining, whether the DC/DC was maintaining voltage in the 12V. I wondered this because it was the situation one day when it decided to fail. I have tried disconnecting the dc/dc with no effect on the cu...

Re: Unable to repair my Electron V

There's lots of failure points sadly Does yours have the manual gear stick with the motor cut out button? If so, that may be false triggering The water pumps for cooling on mine stopped working, turned out to be faulty wiring. A loss of connection with the BMS can also cause the motor to cut out Th...

Unable to repair my Electron V

I have not been able to repair my car and have not had any luck finding someone who can. I think it is time so sell it, as it keeps cutting out while driving. I am in Sydney if anyone knows of a workshop or is interested in it.

LCD DISPLAY The “fuel gauge” in the instrument cluster acts as a battery charge indicator. If the vehicle is equipped with an LCD display: The “fuel” warning light (lower left) comes on when you have 10-15km range remaining. If this indicator lights up, reduce speed and turn off heater and air condi...

A 10A/15A powerpoint should be able to handle a 10A/15A draw safely. Overloading it may cause it to overheat and fail. When you plugin a powerboard or double adaptor you still need to comply with the 10A/15A maximum draw. I view an unlocked powerpoint at a park to be much like a water tap. It is the...

I had a similar problem with mine cutting out at random times. After the third controller did not cure the problem. Ross came out and we found that some of the battery hold down nuts were missing. This allowed movement which fractured the battery interconnect between the two rows of batteries at the...

Failed Charger

Thank you for the informantion. I plan on cable tying a fan to the charger with a temperature acitvated switch or a wall wart pluged into the 240V ac to keep it cooler. Adding an led to the circuit is probably all I need. Then again I have been driving a BEV for eight years now. Estimating how far a...

The new one is under warranty so I will leave it alone for now. If the BMS controls the 240V ac then its fine the way it is. I will live without the led working. Thank you for this information.

That's what the instruction sheet has them labelled as. To make the charger work you need to connect the enable wire to the 12V positive wire. It looks like I will not be able to get the filler port led to work then. Still hoping to be able to hookup the BMS to control the charger on off should a ce...

Good news my charger is fixed. In the mean time I bought a new charger at a cost of $930.00. I now have a spare which should reduce down time next time. All working well. I do have a problem with the new charger. It does not have the seven pin round plug to easily connect to the BMS. It has three wi...
