No worries, thanks heaps everyone for all your help so far, ping has a cell and a free dc power supply for the cell on its way in the mail, once ive put it to the pack and chargered it i'll let you know how it all goes, same with putting the two packs togather,

the main thing i was concerned with charging both at the same time with the dishcrge connected permenantly or otherwise (the positive on both being a charge/discharge wire) was... A: i wasnt going to kill myself or the batteries having two chargers going into two batteries that are directly connecte...

ok, but electrocycle said i could put the charging wires together to charge them both through one charger at the same time, it may take long to complete the charge but is possible. my consern is while not on charge, being they would be both connected to each other pos to pos neg to neg, they may try...

i have a car charger i think is 6v-12v charger...will that be ok for to charge the one cell if i monitor it with the voltmeter at the same time making sure the cell doesnt go over 3.8v? just to note ..when it cut out and i took it home and check the voltage it read 2.8 and the highest read 3.4...so ...

well, i charged the battery for about 5hrs, the problem cell didnt get past 3.2 where as the others where 3.9 - 3.7 (the charge seems to cut out when one cells reaches 3.9v) i took the board for another test, it went a bit faster to begin with than previously. tho the board cut out after about 15min...

both have the same discharge rate of 1C(with the bms).... so why didnt it cut out? if the 12ah lithium has a much lower discharge capability, wouldnt that mean it shouldve cut out alot earlier and easier than the 20ah? not just sag?. is this just the difference between the two bms on each pack, beca...

ok ,with the board i use on flat and up some short hills not very steep...i ride the board mostly in the sydney city or around penrith,where it is used in the blue mountains is not very hilly, quite flatish area. ok sorry...it reads 39v before it cuts out...when it cuts out the multimeter drops to nothing straight away as if there is no connection at all..it doesnt reduce or slow down when or before power cuts out...it juts drops to 0 ..ok sorry about that. i emailed ping 3-4 days ago..this is the longest he...

thanks johnny...u got it thats exactly what is happening...ok..sorry i am so slow and confused with all the info i am recieving...the lithium cuts out in 15mins...i put the sla straight on after and it works fine, i put the lithium back on and it cuts out pretty much within 5secs or immediatly.... y...

yes it only cuts out like this with the lithium battery, not with the sla...id like to replace the controller with i higher powered one but the the company only sell one type of control for the 800w board (ive seen in the uk they have 800w boards with lithium batts..but 12ah and they use the same co...

ok.i'll rule out the ah as a problem......now i am a bit lost...ok how do i check how much amps the control draws? i can easily check the voltage, but all multimeters only go upto 10a so is there some other way on the multimeter i can get a read of the amps drawn? I guess i could also test skateboar...

the voltage does not drop when it cuts out and the battery is not overheating...i just had it checked with an electrician...he said the control may have a thermal cut out fuse/resistor/switch which triggers over a period of time due overcurrent from too much amps, the new 36v 20ah lifepo4 battery he...

that battery or bms don seem to be overheating..the temp doesnt seem to change, thats why i was thinking it may be the control cutting it due to too much amps maybe?...it doesnt seem to overheat either...but it has a cut off to prevent that..so it might be triggered by that ...tho .. not sure... pin...

i just took it for a test run again and it did the same thing....tho if i leave it for about 15mins, it rides normal again but just for about 15mins and then cuts out again. the guy at jaycar said it may be the heatsink in the speed control, he said that the lifepo4 batteries run slightly higher vol...
