Re: Prospective EV owner
Just to bring up something random, I was led to believe recently that there are EV s out there which allow you to power your house with the car battery (or is that only export to the grid from the car battery). Anyway, a reason to possibly buy a 2nd hand ev would be if you could use the car battery...

Re: 2020 EV sales data
A COVID blip is to be expected so not too bad. I expect a bit of a plateau for the next couple of years before all the newer models make it to our shores

Porsche Perth Charger
So my lil one thought he spotted a Taycan at the Perth dealership driving past the other day with his grandma so yesterday we took a swing by to check it out. He is pretty good at spotting cars. I know they are ludicrously priced but would be nice to see one in the flesh. Alas there wasn't one there...

Re: Intel on Ioniq 5
They should be able to get close to 450km range if they match the efficiency of the ioniq without too much of a weight gain because of the dedicated platform. 50% bigger battery.
Maybe hard given the power train.

Re: Intel on Ioniq 5
Thats heartening to see they have their hands on a prototype to do their local suspension tuning. I hope they do a better job of pushing the 5 here in Australia than they did their current cars. This will involve having enough supply, we had to wait 4 months for ours because we didn't want white, mo...

2020 Ioniq 2020 Stats
Total km: 11336 Charging Charging at home has been no problem at all. The only issue is trying to fit charging from solar in with our normal movements, mainly in winter. We generally charge to 80% and find that charging up to 100% is the least efficient. We do try and go to 100% once a month at leas...

No they didnt. The invoice only had $0
The only thing I saw was the $39k when I initially took it in but I don't believe that.

Re: Ioniq motor replacement
So picked it up yesterday afternoon and they only replaced the motor and some cooling fluids during the job. Nice shiny motor sitting down the bottom and no noise driving around except the expected. What a world of difference. :D No quirks yet discovered today driving around. They did 1.3km of testi...

Re: Ioniq motor replacement
Car went in yesterday to have the motor replaced. Supposed to be done by tomorrow but Im not holding out hope as it didn't move into the shop until 2 in the afternoon (Thanks Autolink stalkerware) after dropping off at 8 in the morning. I get that they probably have to study up on how to do it thoug...

Re: Ioniq motor replacement
As an aside I never really got any direction from the dealer for treating a brand new motor carefully for x number of kms like an ICE vehicle. Is there a burn in time frame does anyone know for the battery and drive train?

Ioniq motor replacement
Our 2020 Ioniq is going in for a motor replacement tomorrow under warranty. Around 5000km it developed a slight whirring sound and I asked them to look at it while the seat warmers were fixed a second time (something not plugged in correctly) and they said its a normal noise for an EV motor. However...

Re: 2020 Ioniq
Mine is definitely doing better than advertised in winter and summer. Most of our driving is city. Though Nov had a number of extended highway trips. All time best was 346km @ 90% (384km full) Averaged GOM and measured max range ( both scaled to full battery) per month tracked from distance between ...

Re: Mazda MX-30 electric
So does anyone know what happened to the ‘breakthrough’ combined SI/CI engine development? https://www.caradvice.com.au/869255/2020-mazda-3-x20-astina-skyactiv-x-m-hybrid-review/ Not amazing in terms of economy even with mild hybrid and they didn't get anywhere near claimed economy 6.8 vs 5.5 As fo...

Re: Electric Car (EV) Home Charger - 32A - Options?
So to say I'm disappointed to buy a 7.2kW (32A) charger which I'm only allowed to run at 60% capacity is an understatement. We to got the Delta charger too and its the only disappointment of our purchase. I did not read carefully what we were getting and went by the website specs and of course the ...

Re: Hyundai Maps Self updater
I was wondering - how do we know when there is another update available that needs the update procedure to be run again? I think the only way is to visit the site and check the notifications page. I really wish the discontinued Autolink app was better integrated to the car like Bluelink overseas. T...

Re: WA to get $21 Million boost in DC charging infrastructure.
This is very good however is there also a plan for the upkeep of the network? We haven't ventured far in our Ioniq and have been lucky in that all chargers we've visited have been working with no connection problems (including a telsa destination) but from the looks of it some of the RAC electric hi...

Re: Hyundai Maps Self updater
Not true, the 3 are still there, just tap the arrow on the right to bring it back. You used to be able to set up the home screen with 3 panels with different combinations which you cannot do now. That EV screen with range is not a good substitute for the maps screen. The maps update is good and app...

Re: Hyundai Maps Self updater
Agree the home screen is now useless. Terrible waste of space where before it was very handy. What's with the semi visible map there. Radio is naff and hard to use. The steering wheel controls only cycle through favourites which is OK i guess unless you just want to flip channels so now you have to ...

The downloaded app then prompts for a USB thumb drive or SD card to copy to. Its says it needs 8.43GB so you'll need a large drive. Apparently can take a long time to update in the car. Is it too late to start tonight?
Plug into the car and hit update on the version info screen.

Re: Kona failed to proceed....
If the battery is like our Ioniq, very small, there are numerous complaints of it going flat and the battery saver+ system not keeping it topped up. There was one that the passenger door closed button was not working so the car always thought a door was open and was draining the battery constantly f...

Re: Life Cost of EVs and the government take...
Nice analysis there. The only thing I'd change is the Elantra price for similar spec levels to $28490, i.e. Active with smart sense safety pack. It won't change the metrics much though. I know its a cost comparison against what the premium an EV is over an ICE car but I've been 'justifying' against ...
