Re: Kona EV Brake recall!!

I had my car in for the software update for this brake recall this morning. Quickly done - car back to me within the hour. Only thing I noticed is that when I got in the car all my regen settings were changed and I had to reconfigure to auto regen setting which I find highly efficient and suits my d...

Re: Kona EV Brake recall!!

Thanks Patrick. Well that helps me to understand what the fault might be at least. Spent the afternoon on the phone yesterday trying to get technical information about the actual fault and what to expect if the fault were to occur while driving - but to say those who I spoke to were useless was way ...

Re: Kona EV Brake recall!!

The recall states What is the defect? The subject vehicles are equipped with an Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system that might illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and significantly reduce braking performance upon detection of an abnormal sensor signal. What is the hazard? Reduced br...

Yep got mine in the inbox too.
When I phoned the Dealer service centre to book in they had no idea about it!
... and then proceeded to tell me I couldn't get it in until the 29th to have this 'urgent' brake recall addressed! :x

HI,
Just wondering if you have received your Frunk/Froot yet? Interested to know how your installation went and what you think of them now that you have them. I am thinking of placing a WA order.

Re: SAD FRIDAY FOR KONA ELECTRIC

Ok, so I decided to do some reading on rear end collisions and air bags ... so the up shot from my reading is that the seatbelt should prevent the front passengers from contacting with the front dash/steering wheel in a rear end collision. The front air bags are there to protect the front row seat p...

Re: SAD FRIDAY FOR KONA ELECTRIC

That's terrible David, but glad to hear only minor injuries, although the shock of the incident might last a bit longer. Interesting that the air bags don't deploy, given the front air bags are meant to prevent head to dash/steering wheel contact, although I have not evidence/knowledge on how these ...

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

Hi. Sorry, I didn't get to change mine over pre delivery, so don't have a spare Nexen. I always used TyrePower in Willetton here in Perth. The manager there is fantastic and might be able to provide you some guidance. Certainly my last conversation with him was that there were a few enviro options a...

Very keen on the space saver tyre - we do a weekly 600km round trip, so the repair kit is my anxiety not range.

Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells

So last night was our first time charging to full using the standard house powerpoint (10A charger). We have a Aug 2020 build date. When the other half checked the charging this morning, it was sitting just over 90% and the charging was 0.5 kW and then changed back up to to 2.4 kW. We suspect that o...

Re: PERMANTENTLY TURN OFF Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System

Morning. I can confirm when I turned the car back on this morning the LKA was back ON! :( lane departure warning can be turned off permanently via the dash menus - but lane keep 'assist' cannot. It resets back to on when the car is restarted. Looks like I'll be using Bryce's startup procedure ... :l...

any way to permanently switch on autohold?
Ha - we must have similar driving style ... yes that is a feature I wish was permanently on. My old Forester had this and loved it.

The other half has already asked if he can hack the system, but the risk with the warranty doesn't make it worth while.

PERMANTENTLY TURN OFF Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System

Ok I really hate the 'Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system. While ok on the suburban roads, I was constantly fighting with it on the country leg of my trip, and find it quite unnerving. While I know how to turn it off each time I enter the car (note on another thread another owner does the same thing), ...

Re: I've got my Kona

We made it! Perth, via Bunbury, to Bridgetown with about 150km range remaining. Had full a/c on all the way, middle of a 30 degree day, cruising at speed limit max 110km/hr. Plugged in to mains power overnight (9pm - 7am) and back up to 66% charge. Relatively intuitive to drive and control features,...

Re: Kona cargo area and pets

Now that I have my Kona, thought I would share what I ended up doing. So I bought a canvas back seat cover and the ezydog harness and 'attempted' our trip down south with the dog. FAIL STORY The harness was securely attached (Border collie/Kelpie x) and slipped the seat belt through and plugged in. ...

Did you ask for blue grey? Yes - we figured it would get less hot inside with our hot Aussie climate and hence reduce the cooling A/C, although did note someone saying the ventilated seats reduced their need to turn on the cooling. That was also why we went all white (although had originally select...

Love it! Well all this must be thoughtfully considered in terms of the car's name Lorax Konan Lorax Kevo Lorax Kowner Although the barbarian nature of Konan does resonate ... And just to add to the thoughts ... you should always test a potential name and hence resort to google. Search pulls up: KONA...
