Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Can you just get a new PCB for your old unit from MPP direct? https://maximumsolar.online/?s=5048ms&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1 no tried that , they said they dont support it anymore because its 6 years old , which is a bit crap when you expect a inverter to last at least 10 years. Can't ...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Just a refresher on the unsafe SCC. No PV array earth fault detection. There is no practical way to add earth fault detection. This could result in a fire if an earth fault goes undetected. Has any of this changed, has anyone heard of any fires, how would I detect an earth fault, I can and do switch...

Re: Switch selection support
Understood, thanks. Is there anything to do to help you help me on the 43V back to grid, from memory you were thinking of robbing Peter to pay Paul, changing one of the "current" back to grid values to be 43V, ICC shows the range as 44-51V. Like I'll never use 47V and its below the 48V bac...

Re: Switch selection support
You kind sir, are just a constant legend, thanks again, again! I'm pretty sure I can just put ESPHome/Tasmota on that Olimex ESP32 and that will do all I need. I have a Mean-Well RSP-750-48 that I'll be getting back on Friday, not sure what you mean by current limited, like a 48v lab bench supply (I...

Re: Switch selection support
Thanks again! Firmware is stock 71.80. Sorry, what do you mean by "if you never want to parallel it", it's paralleled, couldn't I just upgrade the firmware on both, or does flashed custom firmware not support parallel? What about this for the dry contacts (I have a spare one): https://www....

Re: Switch selection support
Thanks, apologies, I stupidly put some "facts" in among my questions. For example the SATS and Goodwe are working fine, I have no questions about them. I should add some context, I have just moved to Amber Electric and want to be able to sell the electrons from the 10% of my battery that I...

Switch selection support
Hi, So switches... What would I use to remotely connect/disconnect the AC input (25A?) on my 5048MG (an approved device, that an electrician will happily install), basically I'd like to allow the 5048MG to discharge my battery to 42.5V... I have a Goodwe battery inverter now which I can use to charg...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
OK, if I flip to grid and do an 80A AC charge and flip to Solar when I have enough juice I get an AC load voltage spike that causes my UPS to fault, which powers off my server. What would be the way to mitigate this, could I put something on the MPP AC output to smooth it, or should I change the ord...

CANbus hacking
Hi, Anyone here hacked together a "dummy" BMS CANbus solution, I say dummy because I don't really need the safety aspects of it, it can supply ambient as battery temperature for all I care. Basically my 5000W GoodWe SBP G2 only charges my batteries at 50% current (and I suspect its limitin...

GoodWe SBP G2 help
Hi, I just picked up the G2, does anyone have have one? It's installed now but it only imports at around 60% (3.2kW when it should do 5kW, it exports at around 4.5kW so that's fine). The worst thing is that Goodwe appear to have changed the modbus spec. On the older SBP 0x200 gave you the serial num...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Thanks! Switching one inverter off at night automatically is an amazing idea!!! "The dry contact terminals can be repurposed to become switch contacts by changing two jumpers, in case you want to trial that idea" any further info on this? Clean the fans, check, from memory changing the fan...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Thanks! Fans, check, is there a part number floating around for the fans in the 2020 era MPP 5048MG's as I might buy some spares, any ideas if the inverter shows an error if a fan has issues? Caps and other "things", "things" like other bits of power circuitry, mosfets, are we ad...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Hi, Because I run my entire house on them, I have a fairly consistent voice in the back of my head "What will you do when a 5048MG fails". They have been running since mid 2000, so coming up on 4 years. I don't have the funds or inclination to "go with something better". I have a...

Re: Decent Aussie solar predictions
Thanks, is 10 API calls enough for one house with panels on a single orientation?
I think I've figured how best to use the 10 API calls, check every 2 hours between the hours of 6am and 8pm.

Decent Aussie solar predictions
Hi, What you all using, I've heard of the hobby version of Solcast, I saw this thread https://community.openenergymonitor.org/t/script-for-predictive-solar-output/17038/15?page=2 with the project https://github.com/krywenko/solar-panel-output-prediction but it hasn't been updated in years, someone I...

Re: Reclaim heat pump modbus, how to figure it out?
Oh I forgot to mention another possible way, something akin to https://github.com/johanmeijer/grott it would remove the risk of them voiding my warranty. Basically man-in-the-middle, with something like an RPi being a hop between my Reclaim controller and their servers, I really only need the tank t...

Reclaim heat pump modbus, how to figure it out?
Hi, I know there is quite a bit of reverse engineering going on with members on this forum, so I'll try my luck. I saw a post from d3wy asking about heat-pumps with comms, I just got a Reclaim with V2 controller, it's modbus. Like d3wy I want to control a heat-pump with domotics. I asked Reclaim if ...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Thanks, I'm still on the factory firmware (71.80), the utility charge current is set to 2A, it was on Solar only charge priority when this was happening. It's always done this, the pool pump turns on and if the inverters are in utility mode the 1200w "extra" load just comes straight from u...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
The weather has been crap so I'm in Utility mode and just about to hit 48v (the "switch to Solar mode" voltage), is there a setting on the inverters to stop it from powering the load from utility when there is sufficient solar? What I mean is, with the attached can I have: Load: 1479w Batt...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX/MAX inverters (with unsafe SCC)
Does anyone know of a "higher end" competitor to the 5048MG inverter that supports user-defined (when and how much) grid exporting, that doesn't cost the earth (like preferably less than $2500 per unit)? I need to be able to parallel two units, connect my two strings, charge my 48v batteri...
