Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Thanks bladecar & dRdoS7 ! I have seen the switchover to bypass on battery disconnection taking way too long. (Touch wood) I've never had an error 08. The problem with shutting down an inverter to test just one is I potentially would have to do it for a few weeks, to allow time for the issue to rear...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Thanks dRdoS7 , tbh, if I was going to all that trouble, I would probably use the money to replace the MPP's with something better, even if I ended up with the same issue the new inverters would have to have some verbose logging built in. My solar installer sold me a Latronics Automatic AC Transfer ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

If only there was some kind of monitoring device I could plug in to help me diagnose it. The whole house runs off the inverters so in the blackout the file server loses power, the wifi lightbulbs come on and the oven clock loses the time. I put the NBN modem on a UPS which helps with that. I think w...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Thanks, the whole inverter temperature "issue" might have been a red herring. except for a few rare settings that don't get automatically saved to EEPROM Honestly I think its just the chemistry that reverts and the default voltages for AGM kick in and they cause havok when my batteries hit full char...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I'm fairly sure that when my batteries trip and the inverters can't see a battery connected anymore that the inverters change the chemistry setting to default (AGM). I've permanently dropped my maximum charge voltage to 55.0v just to be safe. I still get these random, second long, power outages, the...

Hi, Is anyone powering their entire house off these inverters, I'm trying to figure out if there are are "quirks", by "quirk" I mean something that would explain why I get a tiny power outage, of around a second, a couple of times a month. Can a "quirk" in the power coming in from the grid confuse t...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

As always, many thanks coulomb So it's really four temps... battery heatsink, inverter heatsink, transformer temperature and SCC temperature? If the "inverter temperature" is the highest of the four, that suggests that this reading might jump around as different parts of the system are working harde...

Is there any way to view the three temps? Could I have an inverter temperature of 65C and the other sensor...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Any idea what program 25 with description "Record Fault code" and options "Record enable" / "Record disable" (default) actually does... When enabled, the inverter records some information about the last (and only the last) fault; it can be accessed by the QFS and QFAULT commands. Watchpower has a p...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Thanks coulomb Went out and checked the LCDs, both set to USER and the voltages are correct. (Looking at the manual) it can't be a coincidence that the defaults are what it's failing to: 05 - AGM 26 - 56.4v 27 - 54.0v 29 - 52.0v When it freaks out the above settings are set, even though these are th...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Thanks dRdoS7 that has been niggling at the back of my mind, that the parallel master flips (maybe after one of the inverters reboots) and somehow that causes it. Or, the MPP decides through some decision making process (measurement out of bounds or something) that the battery type needs to be rever...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Has anyone had issues with these inverters reverting to AGM, it's happened to mine 3-4 times in as many months.

I have LTO and set to User with a max voltage of 55.5v, when it reverts to AGM the max voltage goes to 56.4v and it trips my batteries on a sunny day.

Very bloody annoying.

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, Seven of my batteries tripped yesterday, I'm pretty sure the culprit is the 5048MG setting the battery type to AGM on a power cycle, AGM has a cutoff of 56.2V which is too high for my batteries and the BMS kicks in. Has anyone seen this buggy battery type behaviour? I mean it could be ICC doing ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Wow, inductive load of 80A at 220V, 18KW for the first few seconds kind of thing? Well, 18 kVA at a lowish power factor, for less than a second. But the DC-AC converter still has to cop all that current, even if the DC-DC converter does "only" a quarter of that (≈4.5 kW). Maybe two 5 kVA inverters ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I hope your air conditioner has an inverter built in, so it's soft start. My 3 kW unit is one of the last that has Direct On Line (DOL) start, and the starting current is some 80 A. They had to check that the wiring was up to that surge. No way I can run that beast on two inverters, sadly. Thanks! ...

Since my power outage on Wednesday, there were a couple of other random outages (while on bypass), Friday m...
