Re: How would you detect tripped batteries?

Thanks T1 Terry ! They have a 20-year warranty so I'm not tampering with them. The voltage range is 42.5-55.5v Maybe I need to calculate either excessive speed of charge and discharge. Eight batteries and so a single battery is 12.5% of the total Ah So if two batteries trip then then the system will...

8 x Zenaji Aeon LTO

https://zenaji.com/aeon-battery/

They just have a power cable, no CANBUS, no MODBUS.

They have an internal BMS that trips them under certain circumstances and you have to flick a switch to bring them back online.

How would you detect tripped batteries?

Hi, The batteries I have don't have a communications bus. In the summer months I occasionally have an issue where in ICC I notice a faster discharge than normal and when I go outside and check between 1 and 3 batteries have tripped, obviously the quicker I can detect the trip the easier I can bring ...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, Can anyone recommend someone in Sydney that can: Supply and install some suitable solar panels Supply and install a cabinet for the new 5048MG Install the new 5048MG I have here in the new cabinet Wire everything up to my two existing paralleled 5048MG's (I have the third parallel kit) and the e...

Anyone talked to mppsolar.com.au lately?

Hi, Anyone talked to mppsolar.com.au lately? Probably not the best place to post this but I'm out of ideas and there is a lot of MPP talk in here. Daniel did an install for me about a year ago, I've been unable to get a hold of him for nearly 6 months now. Someone called Cyen responded to a few of m...

Re: PIP-5048GE/GK/MG/MGX inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Thanks coulomb , I use ICC for monitoring and control. No way am I suggesting to it's creator that it might be at fault  I also had to fix Output Source Priority (Utility back to SBU) and AC Input Range (Appliance back to UPS). I'm a bit at a loss. I could ship you an MG, I have a third o...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I think it has to do with the severe overshoots that these inverters are known for. In this case, the SCC will often overshoot its voltage target, for example when the sun pops out from behind a cloud, and you happen to get cloud effect at the same time. The SCC doesn't react terribly fast to chang...

Re: Monitoring & control software, what are you using and why?

gazzaman2k Pi4, 1GB I have my Pi in a metal "heatsinking" case and I only have the inverter USB and ethernet cable plugged in (PoE power) I use RealVNC viewer to manage it. I've seen my ICC uptime at 3xx hours with a quality USB cable, maybe my metal case is helping also, my Pi is less than 10cm fr...

Re: Monitoring & control software, what are you using and why?

Apart from my occasional outages, which are probably not related to polling, my polling with ICC works great, I had terrible problems with the old USB cable but now it's solid, perhaps the ICC creators found a way.

Annoying as it is I've seen it a couple of times on the internet, same model, the MG higher voltage models. Thanks, do you have a link to where you have seen these outages mentioned before? I'm just thinking more about this, my outages never happen at night with zero solar, there is perhaps somethi...

Re: Monitoring & control software, what are you using and why?

it just stops reading the inverters If you're using USB it sounds similar to my issue, my cable was definitely the issue, get a better quality USB cable (shorter, thicker and that you know has good shielding). I get amazing ICC reliability now. I'm not sure if a crappy serial cable could cause the ...

Thanks @coulomb!

Also, thanks for everything you do!

I hope you get where I'm coming from, maybe it's poor components, or my wiring but a dozen outages in as many weeks without a single error hardly inspires confidence in that subsystem and it isn't just me.

Maybe a clue right there though, it clearly has a few different ways to "deal" with issues that might not involve the MCU, if the MCU isn't involved it ain't goi...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I might just have the Lantronics ATS installed and be done with it, when it comes time to replace the inverters I will put better ones in, more and more I think I got what I paid for. I personally wouldn't recommend people run their entire "suburban" house on these. They might be designed for a cabi...

Thanks Revlac ! I've never seen an error, in the dozen or so times I've had an outage, I suspect the error "subsystem" is junk, coulomb do you have any idea from the firmware of how the fault logging works? I think there are a few "quirks" with these inverters and a handful of reasonably rare condit...
