Re: Intel on Ioniq 5

In Europe, the German "Battery Life" YouTuber says the Ioniq 5 First Edition model is rumoured to be Euro 45k.
Seeing that the Kona 64kwh battery model is priced at Euro 39k, I'd estimate the Ioniq 5 will be at least 10% more expensive than the Kona EV in Australia.

Kona EV Brake recall!!

Another Kona EV recall!!!!

We have just received a recall for the Integrated Electronic Brake software. What is going on with Hyundai and Kona EVs? More inconvenience! Surely this could have been planned to coincide with battery recall?

Re: Hyundai Maps Self updater

I've updated our Kona and it all works OK. I made a mistake first time and just copied filed to USB stick, but you must use the Navigation Updater app to unpack the files directly to your USB stick. As well as updating the Maps it also updates the screen user interface, which in my opinion is a back...

Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells

I had the update done last Friday morning and then went to charge the car at 350kW charger with Car Scanner Pro plugged in to monitor things. So: 1) Charged to 85% SoC Display, 83% SoC BMS. There was no pause at 80% as advertised. I noted the cell voltage deviation went to 0.02V at about the 79% ma...

Re: Hyundai NZ recalls 700 Kona EVs

Yes ... there is an ongoing topic https://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=6708 regarding the worldwide recall and impacts. And this on Australia https://evcentral.com.au/hyundai-austra ... re-recall/ I am aware there is an ongoing topic, I started it. However, I judged that the NZ recall an...

Re: Urgent advice for Kona EV owners

Just a comment on VIN checking. Our build is January 2020 and there is no recall shown on ours. First thing we checked. I guess the only folks who may have a recall currently indicated are those who may not have had the BMS software update.

Urgent advice for Kona EV owners

URGENT Attention all Australian Kona EV owners I have just received the following reply to my message to Hyundai Australia. I am angry about being kept in the dark until I messaged them. This is very inconvenient for us as we garage for security ( as indicated on our insurance premium) and for solar...

Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells

I sent the following FB message to Hyundai together with the quoted report. If they fail to respond within 72 hours I will also contact RACV and local motoring press. What is Hyundai Australia’s position on Kona battery fires? We own a 2020 Kona Highlander Electric and are very concerned the car is ...

Regards my post above on sticky tyres. I have now realised I misread the results. There is quite a big efficiency penalty for very sticky tyres

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

Here's an interesting article from Road & Track on fitting some very grippy tyres, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, to an e-Golf, and the results are not too bad for efficiency, but a vast improvement in road grip and handling. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/road-tests/a33014419/how-stickier-tires-im...

Warning: Autolink update has stranded Kona/ioniq cars!

Please be aware that the Auto Link update on 3rd June has disabled 5-6 Konas and Ioniqs when used to remotely start the car. Reported on Hyundai EV Enthusiasts Australia (Ioniq & Kona) Facebook site. Cars needed flatbeds to tow them to dealers

Re: New Kona Owner: home charging advice sought

Thank you Patrick for the information on charging away from home. Very useful to know about the ins and outs of charging on a Tesla destination charger! We are itching to go on a long trip, but as a retired couple, we have no excuses under the current lockdown rules.

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

The Michelin Primacy look like a good option. Did you notice any of the CarAdvice experiences they had with the PS4? Admittedly a more sports focused Tyre. “ You also get a lot more torque steer than before. Whereas the car would spin its wheels under power with the old boots fitted, it now has the ...

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

CarAdvice Australia upgraded their tyres to Michelin PS4 on their long term test. Grip better, noise up, range down. See link
I considered swapping out at dealer but have held off until we get some miles under our belts.

Hi Phil, Thanks very much for your input. We have ordered a Type 2 to Type 2 cable from Jetcharge to handle our out on the road needs (if and when we get that far from home under present restrictions). We may get the Type 1 adaptor when we start to travel again. As we have no pressing need to use mo...

New Kona Owner: home charging advice sought

I'm a long term browser of this site, but this is my first post. Hello to all. Today we are picking up our new 2020 Kona Electric Highlander. I have been researching home chargers for some time and would like to invest in a 7kw home charger. We are a retired couple who normally won't do more than 10...
