Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells

I had the update done last Friday morning and then went to charge the car at 350kW charger with Car Scanner Pro plugged in to monitor things. So: 1) Charged to 85% SoC Display, 83% SoC BMS. There was no pause at 80% as advertised. I noted the cell voltage deviation went to 0.02V at about the 79% mar...

Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells

I just looked at speakev and the way I read it, the update will shut the kona down if the high voltage battery is too far out of balance in the cells. Below is a pasted page from the speakev site. Not clear if this happenned immediately after the update or at some point later. I was told by the Hyu...

Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells

I've Also received my notice. Clearly, Hyundai are, quite rightly, playing it safe, but there must be a better solution than a software change ( 100+ more lines of code just can't be wrong  ) when they imply that there's a hardware issue. Has Hyundai really identified the actual cause of those ...

Re: New Kona Owner: home charging advice sought

Hi everybody, I am new to this forum. I bought a brand new Kona and I have also solar panels, so I thought that is a good idea to buy a Zappi charger. I read in this post that you can get away with smaller chargers, but I wanted to be ready for another, bigger EV down the track. Anyway, my question...

Re: Kona Highlander sunroof

I have major concerns about longevity of sunroof (leaks and other problems) but wanted the other perks with the highlander spec. any advice on sunroof? I got the sunroof because I wanted all one colour. We use it a lot but it's still only 6 mths old so nothing negative to report at this stage. If i...

Re: After sales paint protection and window film

HI, I'm a newbie and just ordered a Kona Highlander EV ... just have to wait the 3 months for it to arrive! (sigh). Now that I've signed the contract, I have had the after sales call trying to sell me the paint protection and window films. In the past I've never opted for these, but would appreciat...

I'm running them at 37psi (cold). The car indicates 41psi once they warm up.

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

Swapped the Lexens for Michellen Primacy 3 st's and am loving the difference. Smoother, much quieter and tried flooring it from a standing start in Sport mode and no slip. The lexens will fit the wifes ice Kona :) Excellent! I did a run from Sydney to Coffs Harbour last week just to check that the ...

Re: Kona charging station out of range warnings

The Kona's satnav system doesn't know about lots of new charging stations. Is there a way to disable the warnings when the car thinks it is not within range of its known set of charging stations? Thanks. It doesn't know about a lot of older ones either. It would be nice if they'd allow us to ...

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

I finally got to do a decent highway run on Friday with the new Primacy 4 tyres: Sydney to Mittagong NRMA Charging Station via M2, M7 and Hume Motorway (this is a very long, gradual climb. Mostly 100 and 110km/h zones to Mittagong exit): 186Wh/km. avg. speed 96km/h. Mittagong to Berrima via Mount Gi...

Mine had these updates and trying two different fast charging locations yesterday the best I got was 51kw and not the 70kw I was getting before. I note that a new version of the Autolink app was released in the last couple of days (for iOS). v1.2.3. So, a couple of questions...
1) Did anyone notice if was there a new Android one as well?
2) Did the folk who had problems have the recent software update (to the car, not the app) installed?

Re: Kona Software Update

I found this link about the update.

https://www.speakev.com/threads/dc-char ... te.150933/

I'll have to test it out at the next fast charge.

Looks like the Winter Mode was removed because we didn't get a battery heater - something I didn't realise when buying the car.

Kona Software Update

I took my new Kona to the dealer yesterday to get help with manually resetting the trip meter (drive info). The instructions in the manual don't do anything. Re: 2020 Ioniq

Still, overall it's a very useful program. Side note: If you found routing being weird, try the same route at http://www.openstreetmap.org with the "Car (OSRM)" setting. It could be that some speed limit data is missing or an intersection has some turn setting incorrect. Interesting that GraphHoppe...

Re: 2020 Ioniq

A Better Route Planner is a bit clumsy; seems to want to back track unless I'm doing something wrong? Yes, ABRP does do strange things. The back tracking occurs when you override charge levels and it thinks that won't be enough to make the next waypoint, based on your required arrival charge. One I...

The Michelin Primacy look like a good option. Did you notice any of the CarAdvice experiences they had with the PS4? Admittedly a more sports focused Tyre. “ You also get a lot more torque steer than before. Whereas the car would spin its wheels under power with the old boots fitted, it now has the...

Thanks for the replies. Like you reecho, I'm under the impression that they went for the Primacy 4. I decided to try them because a rubber band with a vaseline coating would have been better in the wet. So far: 1) The grip is way better in both wet and dry 2) The road noise is noticeably reduced. Hi Richard, Is the Zappi controlling the start time or the car? If the car is controlling the timing, is your car's software up to date? A few folk have had trouble in recent times.
