Power Consumption for Dummies

Thanks AC

I'll be costing out the Lithium OPtion today.

I should be able to make the configuration of the LI bank of batteries fit with minimal structural alteration.

acmotor

Than you for your input.

It sounds like it might be the time to upgrade to Lithium Ion batteries, if the cost has come down with the $AU rising?

Power Consumption for Dummies

Coulomb Thanks for the advice. I don't think that I will be that adventurous as to try and get into the interior of the battery. I think that my headlights might operate off a small 12 volt battery which is on continuous charge from the main bank of batteries. That is the main battery pack sends cha...

Power Consumption for Dummies

Matt

My batteries are Optima Deep Cycle 55 amp.

After charging all batteries but one are showing 13.5 volts. The weak one is showing 11.4 volts, but quickly decreasing to 10.9 volts.

It looks like I have a reverse cell. Is there anything I can do about it?

Power Consumption for Dummies

Could I please get some advice regarding a battery problem. My Ev has 12 x 12 Volt lead acid deep cycle batteries. I have been advised that for the long term life of the batteries I should not allow then to discharge under 10.5 volts each. That is a total of 126 volts for the entire bank of batterie...

Battery Chargers

Thank you to everyone who have provided all the good advice on this topic.

I hope this info about chargers assists others who are having problems with their chargers, and maybe gets some manufacturers to improve their product.

Battery Chargers

Can anyone advise of an alternative 12 volt battery charger to the Projecta 15,000ma 3 stage charger? I am finding the Projecta to be a bit unreliable. They seem to only last 12 months and then die suddenly. Its not practical to have them repaired. I am charging 12 volt lead acid deep cycle batterie...

Matt I am using the Link 10 on the EV so I will have look at it and try and work out how to use to to estimate discharge from AH. Should the AH metre be under load before taking a reading? Thanks everyone for the great info. We need to design a EV 101 (as the americans say) for novices like me. Rega...

The Rail watt meter that Matt suggested (from Germany) looks good and the price seems reasonable when compared to whats around

I think I''ll order one of those?

EV Power Consumption

AC It may sound a bit strange but I like to keep an eye of the actual cost of things and sometimes that requires a fair bit of drilling down to the cost elements of particular processes. For example a late model very small 4 cylinder car I have uses 8 litres petrol per 100 kms so therefore without a...

EV Power Consumption

Great news (for me anyway), I now have my own EV, but being a real novice when it comes to electricity, I am trying to devise a method where I can reasonably accurately calculate how much power I'm putting into the batteries of the EV. With a petrol powered car it is easy to calculate how much fuel ...

I have brought an EV where the engine and controller operate at 144 Volts. It has 12 x 12 volt sealed Optima lead acid batteries. Its been suggested that to increase the range of the car, I can replace the lead acid batteries with 45 x 90Ah lithium Ion Batteries which I believe have a nominal voltag...

Too late, I've already removed the clutch and peddle and all parts associated with it.

Glad to get rid of any unecessary weight especially the flywheel.
