Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

PV power is pvCurrent multiplied by battery voltage, not PV voltage. The reported "PV current" is battery-side current, not PV-side current as most users expect. Multiplying battery voltage with solar panel current is about as much good as multiplying the weather with a stock index... they have lit...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I have my ESP8266 logger running now, logging straight to my webserver (InfluxDB/grafana). When I get it fixed up a little nicer I will post some screenshots (if anyone's interested). One thing puzzles me: I calculate the pvPower from pvCurrent and pvVoltage, and log+chart that, as well as the SCCpo...

AGM battery problems

@Coulomb thank you for the detailed analysis. I'm sorry that my data was badly formatted, unfortunately the preview does not match the final view so although I spent some time formatting the preview, it still slipped when posting. As a result I think you were mislead in a few points, i.e. the voltag...

AGM battery problems

[Moderator note: I split this out from the "PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters" thread because it is an off-topic fork from a discussion there. It comes logically after this post , but the discussion began here . -- Weber] I'm a little worried my batteries are pretty shot... I have 4x12V/280Ah AGM ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I used the Windows PL2303 CheckChipVersion tool program from this page , and produced this: Thank you, I just tested with that program and it reports the exact same thing as your screenshot. Before I modify the comm board or order another one (which might not work either), do you think it would be ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Thank you so much! It sure sounds plausible that the speed change is causing an interruption. My USB adapter is one of the better ones known to work with Linux (even Android OTG which is why I got it in the frist place, meaning to write an Android app to constantly display COMPLETE status of the inv...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I just tried flashing the upgrade (dsp_BC1_73.00d), followed the instructions here in this thread exactly, used a Win7 PC with a PL2303 USB-to-Serial adapter, tested it beforehand with Watchpower and it worked, exited watchpower completely (in taskbar), started the upgrade program, and it found the ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I was thinking something much bigger than that. I'm thinking of a 300 x 400 mm PCB and a throttle actuator you'd never win an arm wrestle with. Granted, that was an 18 kW model. Well, thats whats included in 6KVA china consumer generators... I guess as long as it suits 90% of people, it's good enou...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I think you really need a generator with a good electronic regulator. I thought that the larger diesel generators would have this, but spiking to 280 V suggests otherwise. Yes, maybe I should try a different one... This is the one thats built in: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/oDYAAOSw2kVbg8wg/s-l1...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Hi everyone, First I'd like to thank everyone contributing to this topic (Voltronic 5kW/48V inverters), I've learned so much here! I've been running one for 2 years now (12kWh batt, 3kWp monocrystalline panels mounted at 70° for optimal winter performance) at my stable which is 300m out of town and ...
