MPP SOLAR PIP-8048MAX

Hi,

I noticed that they've added a slightly larger MAX 48V to the range.

https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/pip-max/

Wonder if they have corrected any of the bugs? Or, introduced new ones.

Re: MPP SOLAR PIP-7248MAX

Hi, Hmm, interesting, as there were updates addressing the #08 error. But as I understand you were not notified about that? I did see an update, but thought that the error still occurred, in some cases. There was a work-around too. Both on the SA Powerforum. No update notification from MPP. Also saw...

Hi,

I've conversed with MPP Solar about the #08 Error of the MG, and haven't seen any action from them.

The faults with the MAX seem even worse.

Re: MPP SOLAR PIP-7248MAX

Hi, No, this is where the PV power goes to zero until the next day or the SCC is reset. There are also the "dips" where the power goes to zero for a short time (minutes), but then recovers as if nothing had happened. OK. Haven't read of that bug. Don't think I'd want that inverter. Do the "dips" occ...

Hi, It is noisy, has 3 fans (already changed to blow up, down blowing direction temperature raised over 50 degree celsius, up blowing it not goes over 42). It suffer from same pv freezing bug. I have already the latest firmware. The noise won't be a problem for me, as it's in the garage, away from t...

Re: PIP-5048MG Batteryless operation

Hi, I have used the MG long term batteryless in both off-grid and on-grid situations. It works fine. I did not measure though if there was any grid feedback with the on-grid setup, so I cannot answer that.... Thanks for the info. I should be able to tell if there's any marked increase in exports, as...

PIP-5048 & SCC with BMS question

Hi, Planning to build an LFP bank. My NiFes are due to return home soon. I will use the PIP-5048MG and a Classic 200 SCC. BMS will have a common port. My question is: what will happen if/when the BMS shuts down? Will a rush of current from the SCC damage the PIP? Will there be a rush of current, or ...

Re: Recommend me an inverter/charger please

Hi, Did you look at Solax? X3-Hybrid Seires [sic] is a high-quality inverter which can convert solar energy to ACenergy and store energy into battery.Energy producted by inverter can be used to optimize self consumption, store in the battery for future use or feedin to public grid. Work mode depends...

PIP-5048MG Batteryless operation

Hi, As per Subject: Has anybody run their 5048MG in Batteryless mode long term? I've found this post: https://powerforum.co.za/topic/3687-pip-5048mg-grid-assist/ It mentions a possible grid feedback. I'm hopefully returning my NiFe cells soon. Seller has agreed to me returning them for a full refund...

Hi, If only the was an electrical device that could be incentivised /subsidised that could soak up a lot of the excess solar energy during the day and be hooked up so it can push power back into the grid when it's in high demand.... Thanks, but I don't know what this means, do you mean just remotely switching off the grid connection to the inverters with a big relay, I don't think I like that idea and it's definitely not something I would be doing myself? It doesn't require a big relay. It wouldn't be remote, put a contactor i...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, it requires the connected inverter to "pre-charge". Never heard this term before. It sounds like a soft start from reading Wiki. Does the 5048MG have this function? Pre-charge isn't something that is commonly implemented in inverters, and certainly PIPs/Axperts don't have it. But all inverter in...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, Just wondering if anyone else has encountered an overload fault with their 3kw or 5kw model. Basically it won't bypass to grid when battery overload happens in the 105%-130% rated power band. It will bypass to grid when overload >130%. Instead of bypassing to grid, it just shuts down the output ...

Hi, I was planning to buy a Daly Smart BMS, but read in a forum that it requires the connected inverter to "pre-charge". Never heard this term before. It sounds like a soft start from reading Wiki. Does the 5048MG have this function? Apparently, it causes the (maybe not so) Smart BMS to cycle On and...

MPP SOLAR PIP-7248MAX

Hi, I was recently looking at duplicating my existing 5048MG, and found an Australian MPP Solar store. There was a new inverter: PIP-7248. Sounds like a better idea than 2 MGs for my purposes. Most I have needed recently, since putting the whole house on the MG, is 6000W (which caused the MG to trip...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, Is anyone using a Victron BMV with these inverters, it uses a shunt right (up to 6000A/50mV shunt, that seems huge, the 500A/50mV would surely be alright for most people) so it has very accurate measurements and doesn't suffer from the voltage decreasing by nearly a volt when load is applied to ...

since I turned Utility charging on, first @ 2A, then 10A, I haven't had an Error 08. I presume that you turned on utility charging specifically to overcome the bus voltage errors, correct? Did 2 A not suffice? 2A worked OK. AFAIK. Hard to know for sure with an intermittent fault. I went to 10A as t...

There is an issue with fault code 08 (error 08: bus voltage is too high), with certain types of solar panel, especially if the panels are grounded (as they should be). This has been discussed extensively on the South African Power Forum, and member APV finally found a solution for it, given in this...

Hi,

I use Watchpower. It's free. Does what I want, monitor & change settings. Bit slow when retrieving past data, and date/time column has to be resized every f@#king time, but it's free. Did I already mention that?
