Re: 2020 Ioniq 38 range test at 80,000 km

It may not have gone near the coalface, so to speak. My guess it was for a manager to drive to and from the office in Perth. Or maybe an actual driver, some of those operate mining machinery remotely from an office. They are mostly used around site and to get into town (Port Hedland) from site. I d...

Full EV, they have a few ioniqs. They also have a lightning among other EVs as well

I might be interested in the battery cables ( low voltage and high voltage) if you aren't using them for your own projects

Re: NMC battery charge/usage range for longevity?

NMC and NCA cells (both of which Tesla have used over the years) have a much more linear voltage curve so you don't need to bring them up to 100% for balancing, Teslas balance at every point from 0% to 100%

I haven't put the atto3 drive in it but I have been building up a replacement battery pack. The I-MIEV cells are currently sitting at around 30% state of health. They are so far under their original capacity that every time I drive the car I kill them further by trying to pull higher and higher C ra...

I don't know who could do it but there is a pretty powerful app for BMWs that allows you to change and program most things
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... bimmercode

Be careful though, you can change settings that will brick your car so pay attention to what you are doing

Re: Spinning a Leaf motor backwards(clockwise)

From a quick look, it appears that Leaf motors are 3 phase AC synchronous motors. As such just swapping two of the power cables over to the stator of the motor will reverse the direction. Many 3 phase motor controllers have contactors or electronics that allow spinning in either direction. On a fix...

Evaporative air conditioners are called swampys because they make it feel like you're in a swamp (humid and they breed mosquitos)

Hi, Anyone here hacked together a "dummy" BMS CANbus solution, I say dummy because I don't really need the safety aspects of it, it can supply ambient as battery temperature for all I care. Basically my 5000W GoodWe SBP G2 only charges my batteries at 50% current (and I suspect its limiti...

Wondered about that, looked for another plate, didn't find anything under the bonnet etc, any idea where that info is, if it's on the car at all? Could be anywhere on the car, manufacturers like to make our lives difficult. Under the boot floor/carpet is a common euro car spot but that's just a guess

So, maybe 07/20, not sure what the two different dates mean. That sticker is only the compliance plate. The date on it is when Renault Australia had the car complied, it's not the manufacture date of the car. The build date can be more than a year older than that date it just depends how long Renau...

A wrecked Atto 3 just turned up in one of my Neighbour's yards. I wonder if they are working on something similar. Same colour as mine so I know where to start if I ever need some spare body parts. For their sanity I hope not. Unless they plan on hacking the BMS and going high voltage to the inverter

Your picture shows two red and white wires. Is one red with a white stripe and the other white with a red stripe? Hard to work out which one you are referring to from the photo. Either, Red with a white seems to be the standard wire colour for power on a heap of modules and in the back of the under...

Re: 2021 MG ZS EV faults

It is a bit of a mystery to me why the module decided to get old timers and lose its program, but maybe a battery voltage dip, could explain that. 12V system brown outs cause modules on cars to do all sorts of weird things including losing programming all the time. When the voltage gets low the mod...

The p0463 is coolant pump electrics. That doesn't necessarily mean the pump for the electronics or that the electronics aren't being cooled. It could just mean it's detected a fault in the electrical circuit for a coolant pump which may just be a pump that assists another pump isn't working or its d...

worse (or better just frustrating) it appears to just be the expiry of an hour counter on pump run time - the pump itself appears to be functional, otherwise the power electronics would have overheated 15k km ago I'm unconvinced that it's a count down timer to failure. Plenty of people on that foru...

Nah not yet. Everyone seems to be scared of the repairable write-off causing a potential (and let's face it, probable) no warranty from Renault.
I'm not too concerned in the meantime though. It's a nice car to drive and it's handy owning a van.

Re: Turtle Mode at 80% charge

I don't think it would be a temp sensor or pump fault because as you said it should bring on more lights if it was. ECUs are pretty smart nowadays and will bring on check engine lights if a sensor or pump are open circuit. Doesn't mean it's not those sorts of things but it's less likely. Could still...
