Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Ok so welding of the terminals makes it difficult and the freight.
What about the Liyuan cells? Aren't we looking at about $11000 for them plus freight?
I will ask at work about how much it would be on their account.

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

I have been keeping an eye on the battery hookup. They have a complete bmw battery on there at the moment. https://batteryhookup.com/collections/module-madness/products/complete-bmw-32kwh-ev-active-e-battery-96s Aren't these the samsung cells that are the first preference for the battery replacement...

Re: Hovercraft Conversion

There is some motors that are used on paragliders, they might be the go. Another options is multiples of RC motors. Any idea what power the solo engines are rated for?
Your biggest issue is going to be battery weight, still its possible.

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Yes I am definitely interested.
A thought I had is about how the car counts the Ahs. If it uses a current sensor could you modify/change the current sensor so that the it under reads the current?

You could check out what the Open Inverter guys (www.openinverter.org) are doing with the buck/boost converters out of the various toyota hybrid models. I'm not sure but there might be some models where is separate to the inverter.

Re: Motor controller to run a Vectrix motor.

Thanks for the link to Trev. After looking at it I found a link to an old fully charged episode where they drove it. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5pUIXe--fc Can definitely hear the vectrix motor. Will go do some research and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the info Anitscab. I am not ...

Re: Motor controller to run a Vectrix motor.

No it won't be on a vectrix. Will do some reading about field orientated control. So it is mostly only used on industrial vfd's? Brief first looks suggests that field orientated control is more efficient, especially at high rpm. Do your standard BLDC or permanent magnet controls just accept that for...

Re: Max speed of vectrix

There are hacked versions that can go to 125kmh, but I bricked an mc when I tried to install it. Then in the process of swapping out the mc I blew up the charger. That day really sucked
Ohhh nasty. Ok so the motor itself is capable of 125km/h. Thats good to know. Thanks.

Motor controller to run a Vectrix motor.

Hi All, I have a spare vectrix motor here and I have been thinking about putting it to use in a kind of custom motorbike project. Having read about Antiscabs 100 000kms and having 4 motor controller failures, I think it would be better to run a different motor controller. Makes me wonder how long I'...

Max speed of vectrix

With all this staying at home, I was looking at the spare Vectrix motor I have and thinking.... I could make this into to something. And one piece of information I don't know is how fast could a vectrix motor go. I remember reading something on the net somewhere about people with hacked software get...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Well don't trade it in. Sell it privately, at $8000 it would sell quickly, I reckon.
I would be keen on trying the 93 AH one day, if I had some idea if the car would cope.

Thanks alot everyone. I'll see if I can track down a key from that info.
With a past car the remote locking part of the key was able to be paired with computer even if the key originally belonged to another car.

I see the Mini Cooper E is being sold in Australia. Website says price is $34 870. That must make it about the cheapest new EV available?
Has 230 -260km range too...
Has anyone see one on the roads here?

Yes that's a good test but unfortunately wouldn't have picked up all the rust in the moke. Turned out it had lots of small holes near each other. So there was still steel for the magnet to stick to.

Imiev keyless entry

Hi all, I'm am a new owner of a 2012 Imiev. Looking in the manual I see that they have keyless entry. Mine came with only a key for the door. Was keyless entry an option or standard? I asked the mitsubishi dealer about a key and the price was high - $500. My googling indicates that it might be the s...
