Re: How to get plastic flexible tubing into the bottom of 5048 style inverter/chargers?

I use 2.5 mm 3 core flexible cable to my inverters for the 230v and cable tie them to the side of the case through the air holes. I also do not have them hard wired there are polarized wago 770 3 pin 25 amp plugs and sockets on the cables (rs components No 500-3767 Mfr No 770-133) and anderson power...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

If you want to parallel your present two inverters, you'll have to sell one, carefully select its replacement, and you might still need to update the firmware on one of them. I have been told that people are looking for the older inverters to make parallel sets so they may fetch reasonable money se...

Re: MPP HV2-5048 Earthing of output

I've put dots where I think you mean to stop but its not making full sense to me yet. OK on the sub-boards . That has been my experience also but why does putting one on prevent an RCD upstream? can you explain that bit for me please. . If there there is an earth on the neutral down stream from an ...

Re: MPP HV2-5048 Earthing of output

An RCD measures the current in the neutral and active should the current become imbalanced by more than the RCD is set for it will trip, so it will trip without an earth if their is enough parasitic current flow and sometimes this causes problems. Also in the above diagrams having an earth stake at ...

Re: Monitoring & control software, what are you using and why?

Polling every second is far too fast the inverter will still be sending data back when the next requests are made there needs to be at least 3 seconds better 5 seconds so I would expect problems, I had to make my polling every 20 seconds in my code as I have both inverters in the parallel set being ...

It works ok with two and another two on a different system over the internet so that makes four at once.

Re: Inverter Welder Charger

I needed to charge NiFe cells , I had 6 x 250amp diodes in my collection and two transformers out of a microwave oven I put two 6mm windings (bifilar) on one transformer and with my old variac to adjust the 240vac input I was able to go to 100amps at 1.8 volts for one cell and ran at 30amps for two ...

In my 48v PIPs up to 1.2kw hours each day can be used by the inverter itself so you need to include that in your calculations.

I have succeeded in making it work! The first page (screen) enables the sending of all the "Q" commands to get status of inverter it prints the received data to a screen at the bottom. The second page the status2 page automatically every 20 seconds sends QPIGS , QPGS1 AND QPGS2 to the inverter it di...

Inverter Remote Screen with a Nextion

I thought I would start a new topic as I have the Nextion working with my PIP's as a remote screen with an AVR micro and now communicating directly with the PIP with only the Nextion with a TTL to RS232 buffer and as a separate topic it would be easy to find. The Nextion screen is sending a QPIGS an...

Re: Nickel Iron Batteries real data

The PCM60X is the MPPT charger that is in the inverters I have but even as a separate charger 62v is still too low, if I was to have 40 cells its 1.6v x 40 68v and for the 30 min charge of 1.8v its 72v so with 38 cells 60v and 68v . With NiFe or NiCad the voltage range can be from 44v to 70v which i...

Re: Nickel Iron Batteries real data

Now after a week of cycles I have measured the amount of water used in a number of cells (200Ah) they all used very close to 150mils each with that sort of use I would go through around 300 liters a year Note I am not charging them to bulk then going to float the esmart3 just keeps charging until no...

Re: Nickel Iron Batteries real data

Its summer (almost) and regular charge of 30 to 40 amps is going into the NiFe's which is what they should be charged at by Edison's documentation from 1900's. I am going to measure water use in a cell over each week for the next few weeks. I have paralleled some cells that show less capacity than t...

Re: MKS-II-5KWB Repair Please help

They have confirmed that the units are clones and this likely explains why they do not function correctly and randomly fail. I am not sure that is true , I think even if you install new inverters the cause of this failure may still be there, I feel it could be a voltage spike on the incoming grid/g...

Re: PIP-5048MG Batteryless operation

I use the generator start relay to activate my neutral earth when in inverter mode could you do the same to disconnect in bypass mode.
The more advanced way would be to use another micro to ask the buss volts and disconnect if too high.

So if its a bus charge supply running off the AC mains in then high voltage spikes on AC in, maybe the generator or grid , maybe lightning so get voltage suppressors for AC input ask more questions of what happened the first time.

No it appears to be a typical mains power circuit configuration the two pin connector is its supply and the 4 pin is its output. From what I can see it does not connect to the PV. It was good that he posted the back of the board so I could follow it. Now that to me says a surge on that input so now ...

The circuit with the blown capacitor and NTC thermistor appears to be a small power supply not related to the solar charger there is a bridge rectifier after the input from the common mode filter and thermistor.

When you read the victron specs its a high frequency inverter like the MPP Solar and this note about output "Increases linearly from 4800 W at 46 VDC
to 5300 W at 52 VDC" so it is not 6000 watts . I would also like to know if the solar is isolated from the battery.

The capacitor that burnt is not a capacitor it is a NTC thermistor so over current burn out. What is the arrangement of panels and what are their full specs I suspect an over voltage problem. Re: PIP-5048MK inverter

I think it is claimed on the panels not the inverter as it would not be a grid feed system. You can have both systems one installed as a grid feed in then the backup with a smaller set of panels or no panels using the grid feed to keep the battery charged via the inverters 230v ac charger the invert...
