Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I thought this may be the most appropriate place to post the pictures of the remote display I am working on. It is a Nextion paired with an Atmel AVR This is displaying my two inverters actual picture of the Nextion screen The zip file is an animation showing it working Note its a personal project s...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I measured the Nextion display and it was 350ma , I hooked it up to the 5v output from the DC-DC power supply
this is running the HLK-RM04 .
The input voltage (from pip4048) went to 10.5v and I had both the HLK-RM04 and 7 inch Nextion display running so 450 to 500ma at 5v.

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I went and measured the voltage on the input of the DC-DC power supply its 13v while powering the HLK-RM04 which has a 160ma draw at 5v.
I will later try loading it a bit more to see how it goes as I want to drive a 7 inch Nextion display.

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I think it will the PiB4 is 3.2 watts doing video , 4.5 watts loading XDE which is less than 400ma at 12v and I measure 15v on my units.
Note I run HLK-RM04 off my inverters via 1A DC-DC power supplies from ebay.

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I have been waiting for about a year for a new SCC board (my old one has a heat sink) which blew up from mppsolar in Taiwan. Sounds like the SCC boards are having a high failure rate. Myself and a friend have been running six PIP4048 for more than 5 years and I have not needed my spare units yet I ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I run E-smart3 MPPT chargers with my inverters they work ok with the MPPT units in the inverters infact they work better they take a lot less time to start charging after re calibrating. I have the 40 amp units there is a 60 amp version but it would be more cost effective to get two 40 amp units , 8...

I think its Iron carbonate edisons regeneration of cells used the steel case with pos & neg shorted to regenerate pushing carbon out of the Iron carbonate which would be in contact with the case. The other case you can get made is a steel one plain steel mig welded a lip around the top inside to sup...

Re: Nickel Iron Batteries real data

I have had some success with builders bog sealing my cell its only very slightly damp and no less electrolyte than other cells. Now for the naked cell PVC seems to be resistant to KOH so a length of pipe big enough for it to fit in with end caps just need a good glue. I always turn off breaker befor...

Depending on your electronics skills you could make a high power zener diode that will keep the voltage to less than 130v
by drawing current from the panels as it tries to exceed this.
What is the maximum power point of the panels?

Re: PV Inverters and batteries

If they are sealed batteries you need to keep the voltage to less than 2.4 volts per cell this is the voltage at which they gas causing loss of water and drying them out 12v = 14.4v 24v = 28.8v 48v = 57.6v But as the inverters tend to overshoot I set my 48v sealed banks to 56.4v and often see it at ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I was going to get 64v PIPs but with the software bugs and the problem of not doing so good a sine wave at the low end of NiFe voltages
I have decided to try voltage boosters.
Note Henkel adhesives had no glue to take KOH long term going to see if I can get a case made to fit the cell.

Sorry to hear about the NiFe cells all my ones appeared to test ok when charged and discharged
as 12v sets they ran 5 x 50 watt halogen lamps for m ore than 10 hours and still at 1.2 volts
only problem is one cell has cracked case and finding a glue to seal it is proving difficult

Forgot about those batteries must be the smoke was like fog yesterday.
How about having the BMS shut down the inverters at a preset current

Re: Inverters in parallel to power a house

I installed 2 x PIP4024MS inverters in parallel
At 8000 watts that is an boat load of amps at 24V close to 400 amps what batteries have you for this.
Could the fix be to add yet another inverter
That would be 600amps

I have the PIP4048 and when I measured the heatsink temps it went as high as 55c . As I do not like this sort of temperature on power supplies I have built I was not happy with this so I attached two 120mm fans to the two side vents pulling air out and used a temperature control from e-bay. You may need to do a video to show them why lithium is a better choice in mobile situations.

Re: Interworking a Sunny Island with a Redflow Flow battery

preventing the SI from a shutdown Yes and maybe the NiFe could do the job as they would work as the dump load voltage regulator and unlike lead acid will not complain the 1.65V is for a full absorption charge. With the 36 cells I have across the lead acid they are charging at 20 amps when the lead ...

Re: Interworking a Sunny Island with a Redflow Flow battery

Your looking at the similar problem as I have. I have a 200Ah nickel iron battery which needs 1.65 volts per cell to charge but is 1.2 volt per cell discharge. With my inverters 50 volts is a good battery voltage so 41 cells gives 67.65 volts charge max of inverter is 60 volts. The flow battery is s...
