Re: Importing Leaf ZE1 (current) model..

Any updates on how the ZE1 is going Matthew (or anyone else with a Grey Import one)? So... I paid it off last week. $30k loan in 3 yrs... so it's now fully mine. So happy about that. The head unit has been converted to English but crashes regularly. But unevenly... so it's fine some days and just w...

Re: BEV comprehensive insurance

Northern beaches Sydney: Alliance + NRMA both about $2200/yr for a 2019 Leaf.

I did have a claim last year, cause someone hit me: their fault. And that adds $500 or so to the quote. Interesting how that works.

Re: Smug EV driver gets rude email from power company.

put a few more solar panels up, you'll be right The northern roof is already full. The big issue is that the Leaf is parked at the work place during the weekdays. After I posted this I did sign up to a new provider, with a flat rate of 20.6c / kWh. A 17% increase over the old one. Slightly less on ...

Re: New NRMA public chargers still having Chademo plugs installed

Chademo is fine. I own a Leaf. I would definitely lobby NRMA to keep adding more Chademo plugs.

In fact I've specifically bought NRMA products because of their support for rolling out EV charging network hardware. I should tell them...

Re: Range now < 50km

I did manage to get a external repair kit and apply it to the tyre (successfully I think?). But currently on day 3 of the "spicy cold". So haven't been able to retest. Still though the thought of 100km+ range is probably enough to keep investigating even if the range is still ~60km. I'm a ...

Re: Range now < 50km

Well turns out that maybe... maybe... it was the tyre being flat: https://photos.mallen.id.au/get?n=2022%2F2022-04-18%20vectrix%20battery%2Fmetal-tyre.jpeg So that last range test may have been impacted by that bit of metal in there... I'll have to get it fixed and retest. I don't know at what point...

Thanks for your comments antiscab. Seems the 72ah cells are now a bit more than $3500: https://www.evworks.com.au/calb-72ah-lifepo4-cell $133*42=5586 But maybe they are cheaper in bulk or something. Or like everyone else are claiming "covid" and "shortages" etc blah blah blah. Si...

Range now < 50km

When I first bought the VX1 I could get around 62km to a full battery. This was with the bike at 12500ish kms on the clock and after a lithium conversion. No idea when the lithium conversion was done or what the current batteries actually are. It was handled by a previous owner. Now the bike has 295...

The wasteland between Sydney and Newcastle....

How come there is zero serious charging options between Sydney and Newcastle? I mean it's a pretty major route that a lot of EVs would take. I think I can make it from home in Sydney's northern beaches to the Wallsend NRMA fast charger but I've never confirmed that in practice (2018 JDM Leaf - Type1...

Funny, my Vectrix has the same range. But a higher top speed: 100km/h, and it feels completely at home at that speed, like it'd be happy to do more. Heaps more storage room as well.

The pilot went active this week:

Type 2 public chargers... built in cable or BYO?

I realized recently that if I show up at a Type2 public charger and it has a built in cable I'm not going to be able to charge. I have a type2 to type1 cable (car is type1). So if it just has a socket I'm good to go. How common is the Type2 cable being built in to the charger? And can I get an adapt...

The thinnest point between the arm rests is 125cm, and a bit further up against the door itself is 135cm.

You'll get 2 baby seats in easy. Not 3. If the 3rd is just a booster seat in the middle it might work? But you might have to go into a Nissan dealer and sus out one in person...

Started with 100% and got home with 35%... so that's around 240km total range? M1 is pretty hilly near Sydney and 110km/h. I was using the c...

Which type 2 to 1 charging cable?

I'm about to order a Type 2 to Type 1 cable from AliExpress . According to my research the type 1 socket on my 2018 JDM Leaf will max out at 16A right?
