Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

Also, it has a 24 kWh battery. They come with 30, 40, or 62 kWh now. Be aware that a second hand 24 kWh battery may not meet your range needs unless they are very modest. A 24kW would meet all of our daily needs, but always better to have more of course for the occasional other uses. That said, the...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

Yep, I'm back again to ask for opinions.
2015 imported 24kW LEAF X still with 12 bars for $21k. New tyres, alloys, very good physical condition, 33k, english conversion, but no rego. 153km reporting for 93% capacity.
Opinions please.
Decent value?
Don't touch it with a barge pole?
etc

Thanks.

Re: IONIQ Electric or LEAF?

I can't vouch for the mg in particular but a lot of China made vehicles have come along in leaps and bounds and you'll probably find the build quality of the mg is not as far off the leaf/Ioniq as you'd might expect. Personally of the 3 I'd go for the Ioniq but definitely take all 3 for a spin. I'm...

Re: IONIQ Electric or LEAF?

You won't see import Ioniqs as they are already for sale by dealerships here in Australia. The import Leafs will be 2018 and early 2019 models, which weren't for sale in Australia until very recently, so there's a few of them on the approved import list. I think there are also exceptions for EVs th...

What about the pros and cons of a genuine aussie model vs an import for the LEAF?
Haven't seen any Ioniq imports.

Re: IONIQ Electric or LEAF?

It involves a lot more expense - special inverters and charging stations etc . But the real benefit to the Ioniq over the Leaf is efficiency (less time spent charging). The battery also has a functional thermal management system, so it can keep it cool on really hot days. The Ioniq can charge fast ...

Suburban Sydney, so not exactly a cool climate.
So the new LEAF can be used as grid storage? (we do have solar) Not sure how practical that would be though. I likely wouldn't use that as a buying decision.

IONIQ Electric or LEAF?

Hi Trying to weight up the IONIQ Electric vs the (40kW) LEAF, new or 2nd hand, doesn't really matter, but price always matters of course. Not looking to pay $50k, something well under that. So any pros and cons vs the two in all aspects would be appreciated. Also pros/cons of new vs "slight used" 20...

Re: 2018 Nissan Leaf!

Nissan will soon be confronted with the Australian market reality when the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Kona arrive! Let's hope they wont make the mistake of getting stuck with an inventory of 40 kWh battery cars and completely drag out the introduction of the 62 kWh one. Can I buy one of those lousy ...

Seems that imported LEAFs are thing, just this one dealer has dozens of them:

Mostly 24kW, but some 2016 30kW available at a premium, like $15k premium over a low millage 24kW 2014 !

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

Seems good. This would be a "Wolf" pack (per this US centric but good Used Leaf post ), which is better than the original battery, but not as good as the "Lizard" pack. Edit: and it looks like there is $500-1000 worth of cables and adapters in the boot; ask if that's included. Edit 2: however, it's...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

My expectation would be one bar lost. Two if it has been treated badly. If you google, somewhere there is a description of how much capacity each of these bars represents - it's not linear. Ahh what the heck - I googled it. The first lot of hot links tells the story. One bar lost is 15% lost, 2 bar...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

The Leaf comes with a handy battery condition indicator right there on the dash. The large inner scale is the projected range for "today", while the outer scale is the overall battery pack condition. You can quickly assess when the condition is before even driving the car. Great to know, thanks. Wh...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

They weren't really any good for long trips in the first place, so you are not missing much if the range is a little reduced, unless your particular needs happen to be close to the range limit. That's what I figured. Even if 20% of the range was lost, it would still meet all my daily needs. 100% vs...

2nd Hand LEAF

So is a 2nd hand 2012 LEAF with 17,500km for under $20k (business, tax write off) a sensible buy? Or is it just buying trouble with a 5+ year old pack?

Opinions please...
Thanks.
