Re: NRMA funding 40 DCFCs around NSW

The map is getting pretty full!

Also I've seen some references suggesting that they are planning 47 sites now... but looking back I can't seem to find where I read it.

Re: Repository of DC fast charger information

Sorry for the late response, I didn't get email alerts of replies! @jonescg I hope I'm better at English than Tony :P And I agree, Plugshare is extremely lax in keeping their plug types up to date. In fact they rarely update the site engine at all. I sent them details about it (the CCS types and oth...

Repository of DC fast charger information

Quick intro: Plugshare is the de facto reference from charging infrastructure in Australia, and serves its purpose well. I recently tried using ABetterRoutePlanner (ABRP) and found that many locations were missing. I looked around their site and found that they have asked Plugshare if they could use...

Really? All reports I've read suggest 100kW DC charging.

Highway travelling at slower speeds

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice from those who have done longer trips. Technically this topic isn't specifically about EVs, it is somewhat related. When travelling longer distances in my Leaf, I prefer to travel at slower speeds to extend the range. This has only been in Tasmania so far, ...

7kW vehicles using 3-phase sockets

I'm looking at all the 3-phase sockets which are out there, thanks to the efforts of the AEVA/TOCA Round Australia Electric Highway, and the number of new EVs coming to market which are AC limited to 7kW (single phase). I have asked on the Ioniq group on Facebook whether an adaptor or cable could be...

Re: Ultra fast chargers (350kW/HPC) in Victoria

Oh don't worry - people will still have to change their behaviour. They'll still have to charge for 15 minutes every 2-3 hours, which is different to what they're used to - but it's in the bounds of acceptable change. But 10 minutes every 1 hour? That's not going to sell EVs. They need to build a ne...

Re: Ultra fast chargers (350kW/HPC) in Victoria

Echoing you here. I simply don't understand the current fixation of super fast chargers and huge battery capacities (i.e >60kWh) for cars. But hey, I guess that's how human psychology works, i.e. cater the least required scenario first, then deal with the general mass later. That's where I gave kud...

Re: Ultra fast chargers (350kW/HPC) in Victoria

I understand the logic of the spacing between fast chargers on major roads. When demand becomes higher , in the future, rather than double the number of chargers at these locations, wouldn't it be better to locate extra chargers in between? In the long term that's probably quite likely. A few thing...

Re: Ultra fast chargers (350kW/HPC) in Victoria

I wish there was another one between Euroa and Melbourne. As a Leaf owner, that would be great - but look at the new EVs around today - the ones that will make up the majority of EVs in a few short years. Pretty much all of them have a range of 200+ km. This network will suit all of them, but to bu...

Re: NRMA funding 40 DCFCs around NSW

It's a difficult situation. DC fast charging networks serves a particular purpose. Renault chose not to enable DC fast charging on the Zoe, when every other mainstream manufacturer does so in one form or another. Should every fast charging site have to set up a third charge connection just because R...

Thanks for the reminder Bryce! Christopher mentioned this at our last Tas meeting but I hadn't got around to starting it. Will you be having a single example of each vehicle? Or is it the more the merrier? (Just thinking there will no doubt be quite a few Leaf reviews!) I'm guessing you want multipl...

Re: "Fuel" Cost for Novated Leasing

My Leaf is on a novated lease - I simply didn't include fuel (electricity) in the lease items. It varies between provider, but you can generally include whatever items you want (e.g. if you have your own insurance bundled with your house etc. you can continue to do that separately). In my case it wa...

Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

From a grid point of view they absolutely love batteries! What does a residential connection do now? Go up and down, peaks and troughs all day long. What does a residential connection with a battery do? The peaks drop, the troughs rise, it gets closer and closer to a nice straight line. A network op...

Hi guys, sorry to crosspost but thought I may get a better response in here! Is anyone in the Vic branch willing to take on the challenge of encouraging the owner/manager of the Euroa Coles Express to get a DC fast charger installed, where the Tesla supercharger used to be?
