Re: Electric Hire Kart Racing

Fun City, Shepparton: I had a go in September, 2017 on their electric karts. The facility is clean and newish, but too much floor space is allocated to their other amusements, being a family entertainment centre. As a result, the track is a bit on the short side, but is adequate. The track surface i...

Re: Electric Hire Kart Racing

The Zone, Bendigo:
I visited there in August, 2017 to give my four year old a go on the electric karts only to discover that they've gotten rid of them.

Electric Hire Kart Racing

Had my first go of electric karts at Hi Voltage in Melbourne last night. They're not that quiet in an indoor venue, but no petrol fumes is a bonus after a night of kart racing! I was happy with the karts. Good acceleration without being extreme. And they had reverse for those times when you find you...

Electric Hire Kart Racing

I just discovered Fun City at Shepparton, which has electric hire karts on its indoor track. I think they've been open for a few months so I believe that they beat Hi Voltage Karts to be the first electric karts (for adults) in Victoria. I haven't actually been there, yet I've only seen it online. F...

Electric hire karts arrive in Melbourne!

I haven't been there yet, but I'm looking forward to having a try soon.
I'm wondering if the Victorian branch should hold their meetings there?

Whoopass Wednesday for hybrids n Evs

Richo, it depends on what class they're racing in. Each driver nominates a time in "dial your own" classes, like you've said. It looked to me like they got the green light together, indicating it was a "heads up" race i.e. no handicap to either driver. I think the Tesla won the s...

I'm very interested in buying one (albeit very financially limited in my ability to do so). Do you have more information? Or was that a Better Place joke? Ta.

$10,000 for powertrain is probably not too bad. I'm guessing that most people who race a super sports type car would spend a few thousand on a bike motor that was second hand anyway. A quick search on Bike Sales shows Suzuki Hyabusas starting at $6,000 plus for an early 2000s model with 40,000 km.

If memory serves the Valiant I used to own did around 85 mph on the 1/4 mile. But the best ET was 16.8. It appears that the instant torque of an electric motor make it an ideal drag racing motor. I should still have the time slips so I might dig them out to compare the 60' times.

iMiEV tyre wear status

My 2 bob: generally the narrowest tyre on the widest rim you can fit gives the best handling. Narrower tyres have less tyre wall flex during cornering.

Le Mans Go Karts, Dandenong South, VIC (kiddie karts only)

Le Mans have a small tarmac track (Daytona) for 4 to 8 year olds, where they use their Pacer Leisure Panther electric karts.

I haven't tried these yet, but it's closer than Bendigo so I'm keen to drag my 6 year old son along there soon.

Round 3 slipped by without notice - it must have been Christmas time! I didn't see the race but it looks like Brabham didn't go too well. Round 4 is coming on 10/01/2015 in Argentina. This round sees the start of a support category for local schools to build and race an EV on the big boys track - co...

G'day. I just wanted to kick things off. Has there been any electric drag racing in this part of the world? Would I be correct in thinking that drag racing would be a good format for electric racing because range is not really an issue? Here's a link to the U.S. National Electric Drag Racing Associa...
