Re: Citizen science - please record your annual mileage!

My ZE0 leaf is at 138kkm today. I bought it 2nd hand in 2015 when the odo was at 13kkm. It's the only car in the family of 4.

So, mine done 15ish kkm per year in the last 8 years.

Oh, my eBike (my commuting vehicle) done 80kkm so far (had it since 2013). 8,000km per year so far.

Re: The cheap country

I'd be happy to pay this if this means more charger availability and reliability. Cheap chargers (and gosh, those free ones!) always hogged by those who need them least. I'm, of course speaking from minority. I do hope my situation normalised in the future, where EV have smaller batteries (hence, mo...

Neat solution! Out of curiosity, do you need to design something so it won't be undone when in use? I.e. road vibration?

Re: charging time of secondhand Leafs

Some reason why the 24 kWh curve is not consistent with the three others? Is the battery made of some different material... Correct. The early leafs (with 24kWh battery) have different chemistry (LMO) vs NMC on later models (click here ) The limit (on 24kWh model) is due to actual cells limitation....

Yep, absolutely.

I'm guessing (totally guessing), the charge rate drops somewhat linearly as per Hx. From my own data:

Re: Will converting cars become impossible?

I genuinely wonder what the technical reason behind this? The insulation degrades quicker under vibration and/or exposure of weather? Alternatively, marine cables become the alternatives for conversions? But they don't have large cables I believe? Although.... within the car itself considered 'fixed...

The crux of the problem is profitability ( lack of it ). No one wants to maintain it if it's not profitable. However, it's an important infrastructure for wider BEV adoption. Shall the government adopt it as an infrastructure until it's profitable? Would I want my tax money go towards funding others...

Perhaps I should have rephrased: You can't always expect to draw 10 A continuously from a 10 A socket without frequent checking . Sockets are not all alike. Even my 'original' clipsal 15A plug overheat (I noticed the cable has burnt mark at the plug end, God bless transparent plug!) I changed it to...

Yes for all the technology and innovation, Jevon's paradox holds. The more efficient / cheaper a process becomes, the more of that product is consumed. Smartphones didn't make emails go away. I had my 2012 leaf since 2015 with 13,000ish km on the odo. Today, it's on 120,000km. So far, the service history: 1. At 25,000 and 40,000km for regular service. Back then, my thinking was to support Nissan dealership for bringing in such a great car. 2. At 90,000km full service while the car has ba...

Most likely 30. There's no way 24 version can make the 106km stretch without slowing down considerably (like 80kph or lower).

It's nice to see someone 'keeping it real' in a cheaper EV (I.e. 25k).

Add V2H, then you have the cheapest mobile power plant. Under 60cents per kWh, even my Tesla PW2 can't compete even if that 'thing' degrades 40% after 8 years.

If V2G fitted, it'll become 'big banana' on wheel!
