What an EVSE provides
Well, PlanB: Interesting. I wired my O/P to a socket: I have 2 15A sockets side by side. My intention is to have the home-built EVSE with a plug internally in the EVSE box (so the cover is removed, & a short lead terminates in a 15A plug) The advantage is that I can then use the normal 15a socket to...

...there are still 34 listed. Starting at 17990 s/h in W/A, then various from about $25K.
I would be offering less than that if buying now!
regards Doug (satisfied at $25K on road in NSW)

*Recall*Vacuum pump for brakes
Can someone tell me where the compliance plate is on the Imiev? The only thing I found is a sticker on the drivers door pillar: it says 1/13 on the date, so if that is the case my car might be outside the recall date. It still has the silver vac pump tho...

I am a worried man: I received this reply from Mitsub. about my car: Customer Reference: 402135412 Further to our previous email the only recall on your vehicle has been carried out ( it was to do with the batteries) your vehicle was never recalled for the pump to be replaced the information you hav...

My2c worth.... V2G is coming! the reason is not so every bit of power from the car battery can power the house, but to use to smooth the peak consumption. This can be used 2 ways: -The power company can 'buy' power to use at peak load times for short periods (so to give an example, you might be char...

The annoyance was because the dealer did not check, either before delivery, or during the first service. To me shows slack Service (oxymoron?) Dept.

Thanks. Spoke (rather bitingly...) to Cricks who sold me the car, asking pointedly why the recall was not completed before delivery. It was also not picked up in the first service. Currently waiting to hear from Cricks (Tweed) about supply & fitment. Also there apparently is a software upgrade that ...

Hi,
just checked my car: it has a silver pump. Will it need changing? (Bit p/o if so because it was in for first service last saturday).
Is there a series failure?

Hi,
has anyone put a computer on an I-Miev in Oz yet? I have the Bluetooth ODB2 adaptor (not a cheap Chinese one, but the Yank one), but have yet to look for software.
Any local info? (I know there is a Yank project, but have yet to reall research it)
regards Doug

has anyone replaced the 15A plug with a 10A one?
Hi, I think I saw somewhere that the original I-Miev plug was cut off, then the 15A plug wired on, hence the short lead. I have seen a 10A lead socket modified to take a 15A plug. Some of the extension lea sockets can be disassembled, & the earth pin slot enlarged. My old man had one he used to run ...

Matt, I was not impressed by the way EMW builds their chargers, so I would be unlikely to go for a pre-built EVSE from them. fyi, what I did not like about the charger was the isilated wires going unsleeved thru the back panel: really dangerous in a car, & not even good practice for stationary proje...

Hi,
for anyone looking for a cheap Imiev:

2012 Imiev (in QLD), $21990, but no mention of ORCs.
...Should have waited!
regards Doug (but glad I did not wait).

I would love to access the Chademo port on my Imiev. I went to a talk about future energy directions (in NSW, but also applying to Australia) given by John Kay, Greens MLA in NSW. One of the things that came up was regarding using the batteries in the car to assist powering the house. I know there i...

Hi,
I have to make a comment on the roll-up-extension-lead-under-the-bonnet idea: it sucks!
If any lead is still wound up, there is a big risk of a fire.
regards Doug
ps: pls do not put any ideas into ´their´ heads. No Bureaucratic or Govt involvement in my pleasure pls!

What an EVSE provides
Red, I was rounding the figures. I have not measured the brick current, but have seen 9A quoted. 9x 6H x 240v= ~13Kw. (6H is the Offpeak time power is available). The EVSE will power to the current set, or to the car Charger limit, so limiting to 3300W as stated, or about 13.5A, so 6H gives ~19Kw, s...

Hi, On the subject of the use of a resistor for coding: The problem I see there is the possibility of a high resistance joint or failure changing the resistance. Personally I think the use of the timing pulses is quite an easy, reliable solution. wrt the Volt, if you made an Open EVSE, you could re-...

What an EVSE provides
I was told the reason why the 15A cct is advised for the Miev was because something else might be on the circuit at the time. I think this is a bit overkill because the most current you can draw is limited by the circuit breaker anyway. To cover the odd occasions I need to charge from a 10A point, ...

Black imiev Morley Mitsubishi Make an offer
I did some investigation of the off-peak, for our area in NSW: The power is 6H between 11pm & 7am. The power could drop any time & be re-connected later. If my car is fairly depleted, it might not fully charge in 6H. The new EVSE will guarantee the full charge in 6H (at 13.5A). On another note, I a...

Mr Zippie,
it is only a matter of asking one of the Jap car importers to bring one in. I think that being commercial, they may be easier to comply.
