Re: VIC to introduce EV and PHEV road tax

I'm in favour of a km tax on all vehicle regardless of power train with a vehicle mass multiplier thrown in.

Edit: and of course remove fuel excise

Yes a lot of our travel towing in the PHEV involve interstate travel. It stinks!

Unfortunately they are an awkward shape so won't fit. Not sure I'd want to revisit BMS also.

Liitokala Cells - Experience?

Has anyone had any experience with Liitokala Cells? I'm particularly interested in the 32ah LiFePO4. I need to be able to draw 100 amps out of them for 10 or so seconds and specs seem vague. My Headway pack is down to near 50% and these cells will fit in my subpack cases and nearly double my origina...

Ok
I'll grill them when the time comes. Maybe there is a service bulletin. I got caught by one years ago when they bought forward timing belt replacement on a Camira from 88k to 66k - mine broke at 70k
Thanks again

Re: Outlander PHEV Major Service

Thanks Brendon. It's just under 50,000. My service today was for 70,000 or thereabouts (72 months?). Mine is well down on distance. The service manager wanted to do the major one today but I held off. He indicated they drop the traction battery down a few cm to check stuff and have to replace gasket...

Outlander PHEV Major Service

I have m PHEV in for a service and the dealer just rang suggesting that the next service they would be "dropping down" the traction battery to replace gaskets and check connections etc. Has anyone had this suggested to them? The current service will be $340 but they are saying this major o...

PHEV FOG/DRLs Replacement

Hi all. Long time no post. My 2014 non-Aspire PHEV came with Fog lights only - no DRLs. Does anyone know if these https://www.stedi.com.au/boost-integrated-driving-light-to-suit-type-a-fogs.html are essentially a drop-in replacement? I realise I may have to run the wiring for the DRLs - unless Mitsu...

Re: Topband LiFePO4 Cells

Figures. Thanks Adverse. I'm looking for options in a year or two to replace my 192 Headway 38120 cell pairs (384 cells in all). It'd be good if new cells fitted in the same sub-pack boxes. It hard to find 20ah cells that will do 5 or 6C.

I've submitted mine for the PHEV too. Since the Vogue was stuffed up 8 years ago and appeared to have been registered as a conventional hybrid, it wasn't asked for. (Vogue rego now corrected).

Re: VIC to introduce EV and PHEV road tax

My issue is with our Mitsu PHEV which we almost entirely for towing. Well be hit for fuel excise AND 2c/km. I'll be looking into the log book system for waiving the km tax when interstate.

Later edit: Nope, no log book system for interstate

Sorry if I missed this in earlier discussion, but is there any sign battery is improving in more recent model years? That is, have they fixed the problem in new models? Just install both and decide later. They both work with the same OBD2 dongles.

Yes the 15A charges at around 10A and the 10A at just under 7A. I tested this some time back with a commercial calibrated instrument.

I was actually thinking of an AEVA member but a dealer would do it for you - at a price maybe. Not all dealerships handle the PHEV.

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

Just bought one it is a 2017 and at full charge it reads 33km range available. Not happy but unsure what to do to be honest. Where are you? Perhaps there is someone nearby that can check battery capacity using OBD2. If down you may have a valid claim against Mitsubishi - it's been successful before.

They certainly looking interesting. Confusing that the 38ah and 44ah appear to share the same anode material but one is 2.5v and the other is 3.6v. Also no maximum current specs. that I can find - essential for EV use. They are the first contenders I've seen that would fit into my sub-pack cases to ...

Series/Parallel Switch Speed

Under normal accelerator setting the PHEV switches from series (generator mode) to parallel mode (ICE coupled to front wheels) at about 70 km/h. This is fine for normal driving - but, I mostly tow with the PHEV. It has plenty not power but NOT plenty of energy. I drive out of the driveway towing abo...

Re: quick question about temporary(test) batteries in an EV

The lower voltage may be an issue for either the motor controller or the DC-DC (if fitted). If you google the controller you should be able to get some specs. for it which should include minimum voltage for operation. You will very quickly kill any standard 12v batteries but if you don't care about ...
