Crashed my i3 - 9.40pm Sunday 22 Jan

I know you're not in Victoria, but I've just had a read of both the Vicroads website and the Victorian Road Safety Regulations, Lane Splitting is illegal here but Lane Filtering is okay. Lane Splitting is defined as passing between vehicles moving at high speed. Lane Filtering is defined as passing ...

My Motor Died

Are you saying to look for the commutator hitting the brush holder near your yellow circle? I was yes, but if you didn't find any unusual marks on the brush holders then it's possibly not an issue, although you did mention the brush holders seemed a bit squashed...is this normal? The cautious part ...

I hope you don't mind but I've copied one of your pictures so I could draw on it to highlight my thoughts. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/2723/Commutator_Movement.jpg I've circled in yellow the commutator where it shows new wear from your running in process. The browning of the commutator in this...

Crashed my i3 - 9.40pm Sunday 22 Jan

I'll be interested to see what caveats / regulations are put on the Tango in Australia. Given the 4 point harness and roll cage I would expect that a helmet would also be required for road use. Curious to know how much extra force a side impact would have on the driver given the extra intrusion bars...

SA you got power problems?

A couple more things. When I got on to the forum, I got a warning saying "This connection is not secure and logging on could be compromised" or words very similar. Any thoughts? You're obviously running Avast anti-virus, as am I, and have updating it recently. The new update shows this warning when...

Here's the rear bush for the front control arm:

I overlooked it last night when searching.

These guys are the only listing for bushes for an I-Miev that I can find: http://auto-parts.com.au/mab-da1s-front-arm-bushing-front-arm.html If you click on the bush picture and view the second diagram it lists the MAB-020 and MAB-021 as the castor bushes but if you search these bushes on their site...

Tyres??

Having the same tyres on the front and back is more of a personal choice than a safety issue.

Having the same tyres on each axle is a safety issue though ie. make sure you have matching tyres on front left and front right, and make sure you have matching tyres on the rear left and rear right.

Found this prebuilt-2wd-66in-lawn-mower which is roughly the same weigh you're targeting. They use this motor pair to drive it wheel-chair-motor-pair If I'm reading the motor specs correctly, it looks like you'll have more torque using your selected motors than their version; 73.2 Nm (4 x 18.3) v 33...

Any one know off hand the part numbers for the matching connector?

If it's the same as the UP30 then the connector should be a Yazaki 7283-5575-10 or equivalent.

Not sure why the first Monier link didn't work, try this one: http://monier.com.au/Products/Solar I have family in SA so purchase wouldn't be an issue. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley2.gif Richo, the Monier tiles are designed to be able to be walked on, unlike the Stratco ones. I looked at solar tiles in the past, so they're nothing new. Here's two examples of ones already sold in Australia:

Yes, it's sad to see some politicians using this to push their own anti-renewable agendas when it's pretty clear that the energy source is irrelevant to the issue. The generator network is scattered all over the state including two separate interconnectors to Victoria, so while I wouldn't call the n...

Quite a few mention that they are only for supplementary use. ie cars with poor vacuum. This is why I went for the UP30. To quote from Hella's website: "These pumps are able to supply the necessary vacuum independent of the engine technology. The UP30/32 supplies a vacuum to the brake booster, and ...

Test drive of Outlander PHEV vs Prius V

Is there any particular reason you've ruled out the Toyota Camry Hybrids? You can potentially get one cheaper than either the Prius or Outlander, depending on which particular model you go for, and while you lose two seats when comparing it to the Prius V you gain towing ability of up to 300 kg. (Ed...

I wanted the larger UP30 over the UP28 and couldn't find one second hand, albeit I didn't spend a lot of time looking.

The UP28 seems to be used a lot in vehicles, while the UP30 is harder to find.

Can't give you any details of how well it works as it's still sitting in its box due to my conversion being stalled.

Charger Precharge Circuit

I'm kind of in two minds whether to have a permanent precharge circuit for the chargers or not. I don't particularly like the idea of having full voltage at components unless they are being used at the time, but on the other hand the chargers will be located in the same area as the traction battery ...

The Brusa manual definitely states the charger DC outputs needs to be precharged. I can't copy the section unfortunately, but here's a link to the requirements from the Metricmind website:

Thanks for the replies coulomb and Johny. The reason I'm looking to precharge the Brusa chargers is due to it being a requirement according to their documentation. I've put together a simple circuit diagram to allow precharging of two Brusa chargers connected in series as follows:

Anyone see any potential issues with this design?

Thanks in advance.
