perhaps they want to announce the locations next week around the G20?
perhaps they intended to install 6 but couldn't get locations or get the business case to work? if so it would be a shame, but nothing illegal.

there is 8 listed in SEQ, but I think they are all J1772 30A, so limited to around 7kW. WA is pushing for DC charging which would be around 50kW.

WA seems to be advocating fast DC charging in 35 towns in their south west. What is the AEVA charging vision for South East Queensland? Brisbane CBD, Bayside, Ipswich, Northside, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast? http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-03-18/push-for-an-electric-highway-in-wa/5329442

Nissan LEAF Pre-Order
A grab bag bunch of comments to some of the questions... First, the LEAF uses LiMn2O4 chemistry. I have read they do some cell balancing but only when it's been at 100% for a couple of hours. Somewhere else I read that the amount of time spent at 100% is the culprit for degradation. It was alluded t...

Carwings is definitely working in Australia. Mine's been switched on since around 19/6. Wasn't ready the day I picked it up on 6/6. Several thousand people around the world use it and you can see your various rankings by country or on a global basis. I haven't purchased extended warranty yet. Was to...

the iphone and android apps for LEAF in Australia are apparently "coming soon".

thanks weber!
insurance was around $823 from memory for comprehensive. is insurance comparisons apples to apples between WA and Qld? In Qld we have compulsory third party as part of our rego which was around $318. stamp duty was around $1034 and rego was $293.35.

Got my Origin Chargepoint CT500 installed yesterday morning. Also picked up my Nissan LEAF yesterday afternoon 6/6/2012.
Main glitch was it was hard to get comprehensive insurance as the insurance companies didn't seem ready, but managed to get some in the end so I could drive away.

Nissan LEAF Pre-Order
Hi. I received a call today from the Origin contractor used in Qld (Service Stream) who have booked in to install my home charger late next week. Nissan Australia certainly *don't* mandate installing a charging station like the Origin supplied Chargepoint CT500 (7kW i.e. 29A capable, but the LEAF on...

My understanding is that the cable with the 15A plug that comes with the LEAF has some firmware which "tells" the onboard charger (which can draw 15A) to only draw 10A. By a third party making a cable with a 10A plug which only draws 8A, it would be a cable with a 10A plug which "tells" the onboard ...

Yes I have been in touch with them and they say they can make a 240V 8A current draw cable. Do you know what current draw the iMiev cable provides? I understand it's got a 16kWh battery and it takes 7 hours to fully charge. This would imply it uses 10A of a 15A cable. (240 V x 10A = 2400W x 7 hours ...

sorry I must have broken the link. have tried to fix it and it seems to work now.
The cost of the LEAF is $51,500 RRP plus onroad costs which I think add around $4-$5000 in Qld for stamp duty, first year registration, compulsory third party insurance, dealer delivery fees etc.

Both Nissan and Origin have called. Nissan call lasted around half an hour & asked questions about the daily driving I do and also about the garage situation for charging purposes. I gather they want to discourage people who do 120km+ driving each day so there are no issues with people getting st...

Yes if we get enough people we hope the manufacturers will be willing to make a deal and allow us all to get it cheaper.
