electric lawn mower
I have the same mower pictured. Bought it new. It comes with 24V of 12Ah lead acid (from memory) and would cover about 200sqm of my lawn on a single charge.
The plug in circuit breaker would cut out when the going got tough though, then take a while to cool down.

It does point to the likelihood that the original throttle was a pot type though.
Meaning zero throttle = 0volts.
The hall effect throttle will have close to 1volt at its "zero throttle" position.

I agree. Just had my 9 year old niece & nephew on my 800W "chopper" without incident. Luckily the government has a 200W limit for adults. A brief check of Strava shows that the top 10 riders averaged over 55km/h for a 2km segment near me. Thank God the government doesn't want electric assistance ove...

Not anymore Chris.
Sadly no more access to the $90,000 laser welder.

What metal are you welding? I've got a little Transmig 135 but currently am only running gasless wire.

One for the BMS-o-philes
Waiting several days to charge the battery is exactly my point "why bother"?!?!?! I'm not sure what you're missing here, so I'll try explaining the whole thing in more detail. Commissioning (initial balancing) only has to be done once. From then on, a full recharge from flat can be done in around 8...

The issue I see with most bms's I've seen is the per cell shunt current is typically 1% or so of the cell capacity. Which is great if the pack was already commissioned cell by cell or your charger is of a ridiculously low current. Otherwise what is the point of a full blown bms? The point is to use...

If the pack is built and conditioned properly then monitored (maybe centrally) whilst on charge, is not cell monitoring, outside of charging times redundant? In a perfect world, that's true. Unfortunately cells vary enough that the charge cycle can't gaurantee that all cells have equal capacity. Yo...

I've been thinking about the bms issue for ev's for a little while now.
Do we really need a LVC (or HVC) per cell in "drive" operation? If the pack is built and conditioned properly then monitored (maybe centrally) whilst on charge, is not cell monitoring, outside of charging times redundant?

Holden Volt - Charging Cable Limited To Six Amps.
You refer to "10A circuits". But 10 A GPOs must be wired with minimum 2.5mm^2 cable which is good for 20 A continuous and typically has a 20 A circuit breaker, so they are on 20 A circuits. The other devices on that circuit would have to add up to more than another 10 A continuous before it would c...

Garden variety lithium batteries are in the order of $700 pe kWh, but their volumetric energy density lets you down. It will be tough to find room for them all without losing boot space. Two DC motors fused together limits you to a rear wheel drive car, and probably with no gearbox. See Ian Hooper'...

IMHO, induction motors are more efficient than PM I wouldn't go that far. Nor would I (or the CSIRO). CSIRO developed an axial flux motor for solar cars that is proven to be 97.3% efficient. I would think that would give most IM's a run for their money. edit: They are actually being offered at up t...

Short answer: No
Long (expensive)answer : Yes, if you replace both intake and exhaust manifolds plus a bunch of other mods.

And if you can find me an induction motor which is good for 100 kW continuous and it fits in the frame of a motorcycle, I'm all ears. +1 Axial Flux Permanent Magnet motors seem to have the best available power to weight of any electric motor out there. I don't think you will find an Induction motor...
